It's really good. I was shocked by how invested I've gotten in the story. It seems like a funny little high-concept premise, but Barry himself is actually a surprisingly complex and conflicted character. Bill Hader is doing a fantastic job and I'd love to see him get some recognition when the Emmys are announced.

Love Hader, so I'm happy to hear this is going well.
Okay. So once I'm done with Better Call Saul S3, then give Counterpart a chance, I suppose this will be next.

I'm loving this show, it's a perfect balance between comedy and drama - a dark comedy. Strong work from Bill Hader and it's always good to have Stephen Root in a cast

Anyone watching this? I’m really digging it so far, one of my favorite new shows for sure. Hader is great here and Winkler is pleasantly hilarious. And Stephen Root always makes anything better.

Only two episodes in, but this is a pretty great start for a comedy.
"Gum? No. Gum is over by the register."

All caught up. Holy shit.
I got some serious True Detective 1.04 vibes at the end there.

Last episode was fantastic. Show is getting much darker while still sprinkling in some humor. Hader is killing it right now.

Bill Hader HAS to get an Emmy nomination after that episode. Not just nomination, I'd say he has to win. It won't really seem right for him to win "best actor in a comedy series" though... his best stuff is very much dramatic.

Happens all the time. Still I won't mind it, it's a kind of performance I'd like to see recognized no matter in what category.

All I know is, I was NOT expecting that ending for the season. Great stuff all around. Dark, funny, smart... it's definitely right up my alley.

Watched it last weekend and I'm a really big fan. What a strong cast with Hader being the standout. Damn.

It's so weird. I really, really, really wanted to love this show, but I can't believe I'm in the minority here. I very much disliked it.
It had me hooked in the first couple episodes, even though I thought the writing was weak and the choice to make them half-hour episodes seemed odd to me for a show that was clearly in the vein of a funnier Vince Gilligan-helmed show, but I was willing to let that slide so long as they allowed the characters to grow.
But then they didn't. They would grow, then backpedal, then the writers would suddenly betray the characterization they had set up in the first few episodes, subplots were thrown in for tension then not developed well enough then thrown away altogether an episode later. In an eight-episode season consisting of half-hour episodes and not offering enough with character motives, loyalty to your characterization, and no sure idea of where to guide your plot as well as rushing it all the way through... I don't know. I just don't really know where they're going to go from here and I feel like they dug themselves into a writing hole that'll be difficult to recover from.
But hey, I'm apparently in the very small minority here. I really wanted to love it, it has so many elements I love (comedic actor going dramatic - and I love Hader already, a dark comedy, parallel lifestyles, a fucking hitman, etc.) but none of them came into fruition the way I felt they should. And I thought the Chechen stuff was terrible, particularly anything with Anthony Carrigan who I thought gave the worst performance on television I've seen in a while.
Sorry ya'll. Hader, Root, and especially Winkler were fucking fantastic though. If this doesn't give Henry Winkler that overdue Primetime Emmy win, I don't know what will. Wish they had just condensed the season to focus on the acting class and maybe a couple small odd jobs instead of turning a small debut season into a super-rushed mini-series.

Just binged watched the fuck out of this and oh my, this was great. Managed to balance comedy and darkness so well. Wow. The cast was all around great, with Hader and the actor that played NoHo (one of the funniest characters) being the standouts. I loved their text messaging scenes together. Hader really showed his capabilities with writing and directing too. I loved this. I found myself self rooting for Barry for the majority of the season, but when the last couple of episodes happened, I couldn’t help but root against him. The show did a great job on character development in regards to that character.

YESSSSSSS!! Carrigan is back!
The back-and-forth between the two when Barry has to wait for the DHL guy to come and deliver the package for his target was probably the most I laughed from a TV show last year.
