Francis, Lois, and Dewey but Hal is up there too. I love the entire family and think each one serves an integral role; can't see it working without any one of them (which is why Francis's reduced role in the later seasons was deeply felt imo).

They pretty much fucked up Francis' role from the start. The show is at his best when he's interacting with the family... a good deal of his storylines away from the family are the weakest part of their respective episodes. He really should have moved back close to home after ditching military school. |

Hal, Francis, aaaaaaaaaaand Ida. Big fan of Piama and later-season Reese, though. Lois had her moments but could be a bit much at times, and I never liked Malcolm.

Seems like it's been forever since I've watched an episode, but Hal, Francis, and Dewey were the best and hilarious of the bunch. I loved the entire family too, they really made the show work as well it did.

Hal, Reese and overall, for the third place also ran, I guess Lois or Dewey..I voted Lois.
It's funny that Malcolm has no votes. I personally didn't mind him as a character, I just preferred a half dozen other characters to him.
Also, Francis was probably my least favourite character, definitely in the early years.
