I had no idea Kenneth Lonergan did Rocky and Bullwinkle. I hate taking Honest Trailers too seriously, but I honestly think they made Moonlight sound way more Oscar baity than it actually was. When it was first coming out, I never thought this kind of artsy, small film would get that kind of recognition by the Academy. The part with Trump at the end was the best. I was not expecting that.

This was so lame. Andy and Spencer just don't have it anymore. They don't hit hard enough.
The only funny part was the "Sad!" thing.

I haven't liked Screen Junkies for a while, this being no exception.

First time I've seen anyone take issue with that part of Arrival, tbh.

Not particularly funny which is suppose to be their point. They do a joke about La La Land's nominations only to prove they know nothing about costume design.

They don't hit hard enough. When you start being big (but not really) and getting interviews with people in the industry it is bound to happen, it would be of bad taste to hit hard like in their first videos (they had a hard time watching some of the first honest trailer they did).

Yeah they just did an interview with the John Wick directors, where they watched the actual Honest Trailer together and they would dissect it and give insight. Thing is, the John Wick Honest Trailer is pretty damn tame.

I haven't watched the trailer yet, but they've been awful for a while now. They got big, but more importantly, they rely on formula now. Saying "bewbs" in every trailer has gotten stale, but they don't even try to innovate and be unpredictable. Anyway, gonna watch the trailer now. I don't expect it to be any good, though.

John Wick (and a lot of these Oscar movies) are for the most part decent, so yeah, there's some pretty light ribbing. But when something genuinely sucks, they still go in pretty hard.

That was great, except for the Hell or High Water bit. Are we still pretending it's a great movie? I think it's one of the more pretentious films with its forced "BANKS ARE BAD" stuff.
And I don't know much about costume design, but what is it about La La Land's costumes that deserve recognition?

But when something genuinely sucks, they still go in pretty hard. Trouble is, they aren't very honest. Their trailer for Pacific Rim was honest. They loved the movie, and the trailer was wonderful. But now, they just give a "Hollywood Handjob" to any acclaimed blockbuster. And if it's a hated film, they just rant about how awful the movie is instead of creating a credible, entertaining, critical perspective on what makes it bad.

I haven't seen La La Land, but "just clothes" can be GREAT costume work if the clothes fit the characters. I don't understand why every costuming nominee has to design period dresses or sci-fi garb, when a woman wearing sneakers and a sweatshirt while speaking with her fashion-minded sister can say volumes about who she is. (Reference to Proof, btw.)

"attempting to impress by affecting greater importance"
Trying to use a generic Western with a few heavy-handed random comments thrown in to discuss issues like corporate greed and banking corruption is pretentious. Have you heard the screenwriter talk about the movie? He talks about how he's confronting "uncomfortable" issues that no one likes to talk about. It's like he thinks he wrote Citizen Kane.

Yeah, I love Hell or High Water personally, but Sheridan does come off pretty arrogant at times.

Their Batman vs Superman and Civil War trailers were quite brutal I think, while their Batman Begins trailer was quite respectful. I think they really rip where there's really something to rip into.
