So I just picked up this bad boy for $7 off Steam.
Will keep you all updated on my progress, though don't get too excited with these types of games I tend to look under every stone and do side quests before I go over to the main.
But the really cool thing is, besides the internet memes, I'm going into the game completely blind with no idea what the plot will bring.

I hope you love it so much, you change your avatar to Cole Phelps. Be sure to do the practice cases where Cole is a patrolman. They really give him some character development. And yes, feel free to do all the side quests (which you can access by driving between locations in the main story).

I definitely made the mistake of hitting Doubt on the jewelry store girl because it looked like she was holding back something (I thought it would be a little more subtle than basically calling her a liar and having her not talk to me anymore). But yeah, got the guy to confess pretty quickly and then bam! Detective.

Just make sure that if you do, that you have the evidence to back it up.

I know it's just the tutorial, but it got me pretty excited. The only thing I truly hate is the fucking walking controls. Ugh.

It's hilarious that I was a traffic detective, because I think I killed more people in the first five minutes of driving than all of the murderers in the game combined. (NOTE: It's actually impossible to kill anyone while driving in the game, but that's because of the game mechanic; they definitely would've been killed in real life.)

Because I've been driving like a grandma trying not to hit people. I must say, I love the mechanic that you can ask your partner where to go. Saves me having to pause and look at the map every so often.

I don't think it's let me do that yet, but good to know I can get the partner to drive me. I've just been hitting X and him tell me "make the next right" and whatnot so far. But again, I'm literally just at the point I got promoted. Also, I changed the color scheme so it's in black and white instead of color. Definitely giving me an old school Bogie type of feel.

I love the B&W, but you have to get it exactly right because there are times where the contrast will be so off you can't continue. But yeah, feel free to noir it up. If you wanna trigger a side mission, just drive for a while. You'll eventually get a radio call. I hope you're digging the game thus far.

Fun fact: my best friend bought me the game for my birthday when it came out and watched me play it for a few hours. After thirty minutes, he turned to me and asked, "What city does this take place in?" Years later, I still rag him to the dogs and back about it.

Damn, I envy you. I wish I could experience playing this game for the first time again. Aaron Staton did such a great job, though the game does have some weak acting from some of the people you interview who are basically the worst liars on the planet. Still a really fun game and the plot takes some pretty interesting twists and turns, especially in the final act.

Haven't been able to play for a bit. It's a big week in my family. Turns out everyone related to me likes to have unprotected this very week 9 months back (seriously, 4 family members have birthdays).

When I finished the game, I let my best friend play it years ago when I would get off work. I'd sit there eating food and trying so hard not to choke on it while laughing my ass off because he would forget the main or side missions and just hit people with his car for a solid twenty minutes. I've rarely laughed harder.

On a serious note, though, the game is a blast. I was a bit disappointed when it first came out because I was soooo hyped and I wasn't too big on the ending, but over time I realize just how amazing it is that a game like that exists at all and the ending actually isn't that bad in retrospect. Very excited to eventually re-buy it for the PS4 and finally work on those side missions that I don't think I ever actually got to get around to when I was a rookie cop and what not (I actually never knew they existed until now).
Oh, and the soundtrack is phenomenal. The main menu track is just gorgeous, but the whole thing is noir to a T. I listen to it quite often when I'm working on a noir-style script and fewer things get me in the mindset.

So do you guys get all the questions right? I'm getting one wrong a lot... I'm on the case right now with the blood splattered car parked on the train tracks. Pretty damn sure the guy faked his own death and killed a pig in his car, but I can't really prove that right now.
And won't I look like a tool if that is wayyyyy off from what is actually the case.
Oh, and I killed a guy who held a guy hostage at gunpoint. Pretty sure I wasn't supposed to do that.
