I assumed it was just for 2016 (having any from any year all in the same thread would be madness)!

Golshifteh Farahani in Paterson (I know where I'd place her, but I've seen other people place her differently)
O.J. Simpson in O.J.: Made in America (We all agree that his performance was spectacular, but is he lead? The entire movie is seen from the perspectives of everyone around him.)
Mary Elizabeth Winstead in 10 Cloverfield Lane (Seems pretty clearly lead to me, but this is a 3 man show and everyone agrees on Goodman being supporting)

My two cents: I think it was Stephen who said it best: if she's leading, then so is Jovan Adepo. Rose and Cory have roughly the same amount of perspective and importance in the story, and I don't think anyone would argue that Adepo is a lead. They're both supporting. Mary Elizabeth Winstead in 10 Cloverfield Lane (Seems pretty clearly lead to me, but this is a 3 man show and everyone agrees on Goodman being supporting) Leading, no doubt about it. If we have to place them all in the same category (and I'm not sure we do), it makes a lot more sense to have her and Goodman both in leading than in supporting, considering the entire film is from her perspective and we begin and end it exclusively with her. Hugh Grant, Florence Foster Jenkins Hayley Squires in I, Daniel Blake (I assume she's supporting, but just in case) Jeff Bridges, Hell or High Water Much like Vikander in The Danish Girl, Grant is pretty comfortably leading to me. I don't remember FFJ all that well, but at the time I saw it I thought it often seemed like it was his movie more than it was Streep's, and I wouldn't have been surprised if he actually had more screentime than her. I have Squires in supporting. She vanishes for pretty long stretches of the film, and her entire storyline only exists in connection with Dave Johns's. And I'd say Bridges is leading. I used to have him in supporting but Stephen changed my mind. This is a tough one. I'd say everyone's supporting. Each Chiron is the lead of their respective chapter, but none has enough screentime to be placed in leading overall. I'm not sure what to do in cases like this one, where there's one clear main character played by multiple different actors, each with equal screentime to the others. An even more interesting instance would be: Dev Patel and Sunny Pawar in Lion This one I'd like to know too. Not that anyone should be voting for Patel, but still.

Grant: Leading. It's actually more his story than Streep's if you analyze it closely, but even so, they're co-leads.
Squires: Supporting. She has very little screentime on her own, and the story she serves within the film is mainly to act as counterpoint to Johns. Still very worthy of a vote here.
Bridges: Leading. I'd argue the investigation is even more essential to the film than the heists themselves. It's obvious especially if you look at Pine/Foster as twisted mirror images of Bridges/Birmingham. Bridges even becomes the dominant POV in the last fifteen minutes; in the film's final scene, I'd argue that we're seeing everything from his perspective rather than Pine's, who feels like an outsider.
Davis: Supporting. As Zeb cited above, if she's lead, so is Adepo.
Winstead: Leading, quite handily. I'm actually more surprised people aren't asking about Goodman's placement. He's lead as well, by the way. The only debatable one in that ensemble is Gallagher, Jr., whom I would argue is supporting because we never see anything through his perspective and he doesn't drive the story the way the other two do.
Rhodes: This goes for all the Chirons. They're all supporting. The film is so diffuse, and I never feel like any of the Chirons really drive the story, rather being passive characters throughout with very little actual agency. It's not a problem, but I never feel like any of them (Hibbert, Sanders, Rhodes) is the active focus of the story. But I will say this: if you pick one of them as lead, you have to do the same with the other two.

So glad to finally see someone else place Goodman lead. I've never been able to get behind the idea of putting him supporting and Winstead lead.

Adding to my earlier post:
Farahani's supporting. She doesn't feel like she drives any of the storyline.
Ineson's supporting. Genuinely don't understand how he's lead and, say, Scrimshaw is supporting. The story centers on Anya Taylor-Joy and how the family feels in regards to her. Ineson has substantial screentime but very little actual focus, and Scrimshaw gets just as much if not more than he does.
Stewart's supporting. She's the object of Eisenberg's affection, but doesn't really drive the plot herself.
Zumann's lead. It's his story, really. Even if he is a passive character, it's through his perspective.
