Are the following films eligible? Your Name My Life as a Zucchini I, Daniel Blake The Salesman The Oath Things to Come I'll check the the domestic release dates. Your Name had better be eligible, since I voted for it in damn near everything (heck, it's my cinematography winner). Your Name -- Japan release 26 August 2016 eligibleMy Life As a Zucchini -- France release 19 October 2016 eligibleI, Daniel Blake -- UK release 21 October 2016 eligibleThe Salesman -- Iran release 31 August 2016 eligibleThe Oath -- Iceland release 9 September 2016 eligibleThings to Come -- France release 6 April 2016 eligibleAll of them are eligible. Films listed in IMDb as 2016 that are NOT eligible are some of the following: The Bad Batch Collosal Free Fire The Lost City of Z Sleight Split Films listed as 2015 in IMDb that ARE eligible for 2016 awards that I am familiar with: Green Room Into the Forest Last Days in the Desert Long Way North The Witch Thank you very much! I thought this was just gonna follow American release dates which irked me to no end so this is a relief. I want to catch up on these films before voting ends.

I think everyone agreed on domestic release for consistency's sake. It puts a couple of the recent foreign films at a disadvantage if they got later U.S. releases (or haven't been released here at all). I'm not gonna be able to watch The Unknown Girl from my beautiful Dardenne brothers before the deadline, for example (been eagerly awaiting my library copy for weeks), or The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Maki (I may have to get a free trial of Mubi to watch that all, as they seem to be the only people offering it). But for all other years, everything should have U.S. release dates that have given sufficient time for the Americans -- the majority of the board -- a chance to catch up on everything.

Is choreography only for stunts (considering the name), or can we nominated a film with dancing/no "stunts"? As far as I'm concerned, dancing/stunt work are really the same thing done by different people. Fury Road is dancing just as much as La La Land is. So I put LLL on my ballot, and haven't been told that it is ineligible.

I hope you guys all saw 20th Century Women. If not, you’re all dead to me. Good thing I’ve been dead to you well before this.

If it were 2017, you could consider Baby Driver for the category even though there isn't as much dancing or stunt work as there is choreographed shoot-outs (though there is obviously the former as well).

In that case, I'm going to be on the lookout for any film with wonderfully choreographed sex scenes... I'm definitely nominating The Muppets, Coraline, Mary and Max, etc.

So, after giving it a lot of thought, I've come around to expanding the top categories - Picture, Director, the acting (including Ensemble) and screenplay categories - to 7. This will allow more variety while still keeping things prestigious. I've come up with a voting scheme that I think will work really well for this, though we won't be able to implement it until the 2015 round. Nevertheless, unless anyone objects I'm going to go ahead and expand the nominations for this round.

I caught up on a couple of movies before the deadline, but neither is getting into my ballot anywhere. Alas.

Voted! Hoping a lot of people are waiting until the last minute... there should be at least double the ballots there are right now. I expect we're not going to have much of a turnout, but that's because this is the first one. The more that we do this, the bigger it'll get. And if people aren't happy with the results who didn't vote, that motivates them to vote for the next one.
