Great things about 3x06: +Lynch spoiling us with Harry Dean Stanton and Laura Dern ( wonky was spot-on about the Diane reveal) +There was something strangely riveting about Dougie scribbling all over insurance documents +Balthazar Getty doing his best quasi-Frank Booth +Naomi Watts, obviously +Jeremy Davies, and the way he says, "Tooough daaame"Not as good as parts 3 & 4, but still a hell of a strong episode. Though I agree with what Viced said about Eamon Farren's character.

Episode 6: Aah, the joy of watching Wattsey kick some ass!! I still kinda wish she was playing Diane's part but Laura Dern will be amazing as well. At this point, I don't care for the story to move forward. I am enjoying it as it is with the inclusion of new characters, return of old ones, to see what bizarre scene will be in the recent episode and just experiencing the Lynch world. - Harry Dean Stanton - So much for that badass Horne kid - The murder scene went from being hilarious to off-putting in seconds. - I forgot her name, but that waitress' laugh was everything. - I am in minority but I am loving the hell outta Dougie and could watch him all episode being his goofy self. Overall, just another great episode.

Harry Dean Stanton is a gift from the gods. I would love a spinoff show about Carl and his trailer park.
Great episode all around. Jeremy Davies better not be a one-scene wonder.

I know some are disappointed that Richard Horne didn't stay the calm, cool psychopath he was in episode 5 for long, but I actually quite enjoyed Lynch making it a point to immediately establish his insecurities that feed into his aggression instead of letting him roll on as a two-dimensional "badass" for a while. I also really enjoyed the idea of psychos getting unnerved by bigger psychos.

I just wonder if maybe they could've folded his character into Steven, as they both seem to be pretty incompetent. But we'll see how things shake out. Also wanna give a shoutout to Balthazar Getty channeling Dennis Hopper.

"ONE ONE NINE!!!! ONE ONE NINE!!!!" Glad we got to see her again.
Holy Jesus what a crazy episode. This one seemed to absolutely revel in violence and bad taste (all of it perfectly contrasted with the hilarious and adorable Dougie storyline). Like everyone else I was thrilled to see the return of Carl Rodd. That smile he gave after boasting about smoking for 75 years was pure gold. Once again there are so many classic moments that as soon as the episode ended I couldn't wait to watch it again. I am so glad this wasn't uploaded all at once. Every part is so dense with material that it takes a full week just to process each one.
Random thoughts: count me among the people that are actually happy to see Richard Horne as a scared idiot as opposed to building him up as some super-psychopath "badass". His first scene was so gloriously disgusting that it's nice to see his dangerous mystique instantly disappear to reveal a sniveling little beeyotch. Also count me among the people that LOVE the Dougie storyline and am not the least bit bored or frustrated by it. Naomi Watts KILLED it this episode, and the punchline of Dougie's boss actually being able to understand his scribbles was fantastic and very funny. I was very happy to hear Albert finally get off a classic one-liner ("Fuck Gene Kelly! That motherfucker!"), and of course Laura Dern is the only person worthy enough to be Diane. The car crash scene was utterly bonkers, but the absolutel highlight of the episode was Balthazar Getty's unhinged and utterly hysterical Ray character. Every line was a non-sequitur, and in classic Lynch fashion the character dances a tightrope of terrifying and ridiculous. Easily one of my favorite scenes of the season (which is surprising because personally I thought Balthazar Getty was extremely miscast and dull in Lost Highway, so it's nice to see him finally shine in a Lynch project). That dime trick was baffling in the best way possible, which is exactly what I expect from Lynch. Also, I totally called it that Hawk would find Laura's diary pages. Excited to see that move forward. Officer Chad is a giant douchebag and I hope he gets his comeuppance this season. In a universe with so many purely evil scumbags, it's nice to see someone who's terrible in a more banal, recognizable way. The only scene that didn't quite work for me was Ike the Spike's rampage, which seemed to indulge in the kind of crude humor that Lynch rarely but sometimes mishandles (I'm talking about stuff like the dog stealing the severed hand at the end of Wild At Heart). It was supposed to be subversively funny but came off as a bit juvenile. Still, I'm excited to see what happens when Ike comes after Dougie.
This season has been pure bliss for me. I can't believe we're only a third done. THANK GOD Showtime sprung for 18 episodes instead of the proposed 9. I totally see why Frost and Lynch needed all this runtime. I'm still unsure if 18 is even enough.

Yeah, Richard assaulting some girl in the bar didn't really make me think of him as a badass - just an aggressive creep. It makes sense that he'd be intimidated by someone like "Red".

Probably the weakest episode so far but it was still pretty great. That car accident scene in particular was a stunner. Any idea what the significance is of that telephone pole? I'm pretty confident the number on it matches a pole in Fire Walk With Me. Is it the same corner where Laura and Leland encounter Bob screaming at them in FWWM?

Seems like Lynch was actually being a little bit helpful when he said FWWM would help with the new series.

Dammit, Lynch, you are definitely one of a kind. We've seen SO many scenes of violence over the years that we should be oblivious to stuff like this now, and yet in the sixth episode Lynch was able to create one of the most disturbing, revolting and just plain nasty murder scenes I've witnessed in a long fucking time. And then that bastard manages to make it funny, goddammit. That Ike the Spike scene will not leave my mind for a while. And that fucking music during it, that somehow makes it even more revolting. In a good way, of course.
I loved the episode. I honestly felt quite sad when I saw the Bang Bang Bar at the end because the episode seemed to have ended very quickly. So much great stuff. And boy, is this thing FAR from the original series in terms of...well, everything. This shouldn't be a surprise considering how different "Fire Walk With Me" was from the series, but damn, I thought that the presence of Mark Frost would keep this thing in balance. But it seems like Frost was also like 'Screw it, we're doing a new thing now!'. Fascinating stuff. My only disappointment is that the jazzy Dougie theme is NOT Badalamenti. I'm not even sure the man has written any new music for this. There are great ambient tracks here and there, some TwinPeaksian guitar riffs, but now I can't be sure that they're Badalamenti's. But I'm glad that music is returning to the series.

Great episode yet again. I'm with everyone who has mentioned that they liked the immediate turn around of Richard from the badass that he probably views himself as, into a normal guy, who is easily intimidated in the face of actual baddassery (spell check suggested I change this to haberdashery ). The hit and run scene was a real kick in the balls, especially coming so soon after a childishly funny scene at the Double R. I'm with Drish in that I was living for that waitresses laugh. Harry Dean Stanton rocked his few scenes. His moment with the mother was suitably classy and moving. Hurray, we've met Diane! Boo, I wanted more Diane! I'm still loving the Dougie stuff, the clap on / clap off scene was a hoot. Kyle MacLachlan needs to win all the Award this year. I was glad to see bad Cooper given the week off too. It'll help will keep him intriguing. Naomi is so great in this. I love the character and he performance. Hurray for more Patrick Fischler! I was okay with the Ike scene. Couple of quibbles... I want some Audrey Horne, or did I blink and miss her like you could have done with a couple of the re-introductions. I want some more of the William Hastings portion of the story. My intrigue about the junkie lady is likely to be the first thing to turn from fascination to irritation.

^ No Audrey yet. I imagine she'll be making an appearance soon though.
I have a pretty wild theory that the junkie lady is Judy.

I'm nearing the end of my rewatch and the second part of season 2 is unbelievably awful - Ben Horne going insane, James and that blonde lady, Nadine thinking she is in high shool, Cal from Titanic showing up...oh man I hope The Revival is worth sitting through this

The revival is totally worth it though. Also the last episode of Season two is phenomenal, so if you haven't gotten there yet, you should at least go into the revival with a sweet taste in your mouth. Also, if you haven't watched Fire Walk With Me in a while, I would say to watch it too before getting into the new Season.

When they saw this Richard prick was a Horne in the credits, everyone assumed he was Ben's son. Am I the only one who immediately thought "oh no, what if he's Audrey's kid??". It would explain why she hasn't been seen yet, could be a timely reveal in the next episode. And if she is...ugh, POOR POOR AUDREY!!

Phenomenal episode! Lots of plot advancement and the atmosphere was just perfect. We even got to see Cooper in action! And Laura Dern was seriously great as Diane. Best episode yet.
I have a feeling this season is only going to get better and better.

Excellent episode, one that was surprisingly conventional (for this season, at least), and actually got quite a lot done while still leaving the time for 60 seconds of sweeping.
I'll revert back to my bullet-point format from last week, because it's easy: --Laura Dern! Diane! I sort of love the notion that Diane could never be present on a network television series because of her vulgarity. Or, more logically, she has grown reasonably bitter about the Coop situation over the past 25 years and is just humorously letting out anger. Or some combination of the both. But yeah, Dern is incredible. Loved that scene between she and Gordon after the meeting with Evil Coop. --Can we have someone investigate whether or not Leland ever requested to use the bathroom at the Sheriff's office in the original series? It'd be awesome if that had actually been set-up originally. --More Ben Horne. That Jerry scene at the beginning was hilarious (a reference to particular habits in the state of Washington? or is he on something else?), and it was nice to get the quick re-appearance of Coop's key. Assuming Ben brings it to others' attention (hopefully Hawk's/Truman's), that's some nice set-up. --Finally, a reference of Audrey, and some of what happened to her post-bank explosion. Still, we need that appearance. --Dougie snapping at the sight of a gun and becoming a badass. I loved the way Lynch directed the scene directly following that. --Does anyone know what name that guy shouted he was looking for in the RR at the end? Or who that guy himself was?

Oh shit, did Doc Hayward just drop a clue at Richard Horne's parentage? If so, holy shit.
