Possible new Lynch project? If this is real and there's a new Lynch movie in the works it's happening, man.

Best TV watching experience of my life by far. Yeah I just spent the last few minutes going back over the thread and reading all of our reactions to the episodes week-by-week, we had no idea what we were in for. I'm planning on watching the whole season in a theater in the coming weeks. It looked astounding on the big screen and the sound design really sings, it's also possibly an even more distressing and dread-laden experience when its filling a wall in front of you.

I watched episode 8 in a theater last night and it absolutely fucked my entire life up. I did a four-film marathon in my old local arthouse with David Lynch: The Art Life, Mulholland Dr., Fire Walk With Me and Episode 8. That was one hell of a mindscrew in the best way possible. The best part was that this guy wearing a Twin Peaks shirt brought his wife and two kids, each of them under the age of ten, in for the Episode 8 screening. This was maybe a month or two after the episode had originally aired, and you know this dude had seen it, because he had the biggest shit-eating grin when he walked in, whereas his wife and kids (clearly not as big into the show as him) were uncertain of what to expect. Clearly, he had not shown them the episode beforehand. Watching their reactions was almost as incredible as seeing it on the big screen (the older kid actually ran out of the room when she saw the frog-bug's final destination).

Just me vs Lynch, 1 on 1

Today is the Emmys and before the inevitable shutout I'd just like to state that the new season of Twin Peaks is WAY too awesome for award ceremonies.

Anyone else who doesn't want to live in a world where Ryan Murphy won an award for directing over David Lynch?

Anyone else who doesn't want to live in a world where Ryan Murphy won an award for directing over David Lynch? I actually find it more laughable that Darren Criss has an acting award. He's genuinely awful, and his 'acting' in that show should be the basis of a future season of American Crime Story.

Sometimes I wish Lynch could figure out a way to re-edit season 2. Why?? I can't speak for him, but here's the way I see it. Season 1 and The Return are literally perfect. Season 2 has some of the best stuff in the entire Twin Peaks saga but also goes completely off the rails into unfocused, boring goofiness that lacks just about everything that makes Twin Peaks as great as it is for a pretty decent sized stretch of episodes. If Season 2 got re-edited so that there's only about 3-4 episodes in between Leland's death and the finale (and yes, I realize that would be cutting quite a bit, but that'd be to the show's enormous benefit if you ask me) it'd be way tighter and we'd no longer have to slog through the lame crap that took over after the murder was "solved" to get to that glorious finale. And this is coming from someone who loves Twin Peaks just as much as anyone (which actually makes those shitty episodes even worse, honestly).

My brain was asleep and I was reading season 2 as The Return... As someone who enjoys revelling in that world he created I've always enjoyed season 2's latter stages up to a point, but yeah... so much less essential and urgent than what came before and after.

I'm glad some fans get enjoyment out of those episodes, I just felt like the heart of the show had been betrayed when it went in such a shallow and borderline parodic direction.

As a part of my Lynchathon (four out of ten feature film re-watches done), I have decided to throw Twin Peaks the show into the mix too, as I was going to be watching Fire Walk With Me at some point. So last night I watched the first two episodes. As I go on with this re-watch I may post some random thoughts. Pilot: "Northwest Passage"Grace Zabriskie is amazing, and no one I have ever seen on TV or Film can give a heartbreaking, guttural scream and cry like she can. James Marshall will never be the worst actor on the show, because Eric Da Re is on the show.
The scene in the cells with Bobby and the other fella barking at James, while James attempts to stare angrily at them, but really just looks like he has a constipation headache; is hysterical in a bad way.
Rating: A
Line of the episode: "If you'll permit me, Sven, to repeat what you told me this morning after your run: "My air sacks have never felt so good.""
I always forget about this odd moment and laugh my ass off everytime...
Episode 1: "Traces to Nowhere" I always thought the domestic abuse subplot that Shelley is going through in Season 1, was handled rather poorly. It was all just a sort of flimsy and throwaway thing. Nadine rules when she's the early, drape noise obsessed Nadine. The flip-floppy nature of the writing for Donna on this show was practically from the start. Rating: B+
Line of the episode: "There was a fish in the percolator"...how great it must be to have a job where you get paid to say things like this for a living.

Episode 2: "Zen, or the Skill to Catch a Killer"
Cooper's presentation on Tibet, dreams and then throwing his rocks is one of the funniest scenes in TV history. It's pure gold. Audrey Horne is great. Audrey Horne dancing is the greatest. Every-time I watch this episode I want a baguette with brie and butter. Hurray for Albert! I loved early arsehole Albert, just as much as the more likeable one from the later episodes and the return. The famous dream sequence, one of TVs grandest achievements, will simply never get old. It is absolute magnificence.
Rating: A+++
Line of the episode: This is a tie between "I feel like I know her but sometimes my arms bend back" and "it CAN wait 'til morning"
Episode 3: "Rest in Pain"
I think Ray Wise is the MVP of Season 1 & 2 of Twin Peaks. Obviously Kyle has the return to make him clear MVP of the whole complete package, but Wise just steals every scene he is in. That bouncing coffin will always make me laugh. The show just knows where my funny bone is. The rant Bobby has a the funeral is so well written and well delivered. The morgue scene is top stuff too, and Albert's alliterative stream of insults is so great. The whole Josie and Catherine, mill and ghostwood....blah, blah, blah thing was always and will always be dull.
Rating: A-
Line of the episode: "Look its trying to think", oh Albert, you shady bitch.

James Marshall will never be the worst actor on the show, because Eric Da Re is on the show. I mean, yeah, but the acting was nothing but endearing to me in the first season. I think it only enhances the soap opera parody element that Lynch/Frost were going for. The second episode (including the Pilot, so not "Zen") is one of the most underrated episodes of Twin Peaks, IMO. The ending with Jacoby listening to Laura's voice is one of my favorite moments in the show.

I do see where you're coming from in terms of the endearing acting, and most of it works for me. I just find Da Re unbearably bad and Marshall stretches the limits too.
