Can we be done with all things Star Wars already?

Can we be done with all things Star Wars already? Not so long as Disney can milk shitloads of money from it. And their marketing machine will make sure that is quite a long time.

Until my Star Wars film The Grey Side gets made, I'm not watching shit! What about my version of All is Lost where an X-Wing is knocked out of commission and drifts in space towards a black hole?

stephen dazed Think Fury Road meets Seven Samurai set in a Star Wars universe... but with Joubert from Three Days of the Condor as the main character. I dig it, but I already have my Joubert cinematic universe. It's a sequel to No Country for Old Men/prequel to the first season of Fargo, where Chigurh has retired from active assassinations and works as a mentor to Lorne Malvo, indoctrinating the up-and-coming hitman with his philosophy of fate and the impersonality of the job. Except Malvo realizes that he loves doing what he does and enjoys inflicting pain, and he goes rogue. Chigurh is the only man qualified to get in his head, but he also knows that Malvo has the upper hand because of his youth and cruelty, so he enlists his own mentor to help him: Joubert, who had been grooming Chigurh into becoming his replacement until Chigurh became obsessed with his strict, bizarre code of morals, which caused a schism between them. Now the aging Joubert and the still-wounded Chigurh are in pursuit of Malvo, who deigns to turn the tables on them.

Do you feel perhaps Star Wars could go the way of Marvel and test certain genres ala Logan and New Mutants?. I mean, considering that their attempts at departures in tone/style have wound up being hacked to shit by studio-imposed mandates, I don't see it happening any time soon, which is a shame.

Its not going to happen anytime soon, but I do think they’ll eventually find the balls to do it. In spite of the damage control behind their last two spin-offs, I think with the company giving Rian Johnson complete say on The Last Jedi, and in turn offering him a brand new trilogy, shows that they have the confidence to do it if they wanted. At this moment, Star Wars does have to play to a whole new generation of kids, but it’s still testing the waters as it goes as well. And as the franchise ages (whether it be three or ten years), I believe they will want to experiment, and we’ll get those adult-geared films.

My complaint with all the franchising is... why can't they do this with brand new properties? Why do we need the name of Star Wars or Marvel or Mad Max to ever get money to make something, original or derivative? Why has the culture become so senseless that we can no longer watch movies that don't already have a brand behind it? Every time I see brands in the movies, I think this:

Eh. Although I do think they made some great choices while adapting Martin's materials, some bad ones too, I think the last seasons have shown they're not so good at developing original material even in a previously established world.

New trilogy is launching in 2022 from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Now we know why they were in such a hurry to wrap up GOT...

First of all, they should wait at least 10 years before making another SW trilogy, but hey, money can't wait, right? Then, there's D&D... I'm one of the people who are positive about GOT's final season. Is it a mess? It is, indeed. But I love the characters, I root for no one and I'm having fun. The events are fun, even if poorly written, because the characters make it worthy. I'm at peace with Daenerys, Jon, Arya and Sansa having shitty writing because they earned their final arcs.
But an original D&D story with original characters? No. They couldn't kill GOT because it was too strong, but I have no interest to see what they will do without something as great as George R. R. Martin's books to be based on. If only it was the Rian Johnson trilogy... Whatever happened to it?

So, is this the series in which (reportedly) Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for Disney Plus?

Glad they rushed the hell out of GOT to start on their “more important” endeavours. 🙃

I desperately want them to fill this void now with Rian Johnson's trilogy (WHICH THEY ANNOUNCED FIRST!) but you know that will continue to be pushed back and Kevin Feige's movie will be put in its place.
