Whiplash was intense as fuck the first time I saw it. Sicario and No Country for Old Men also come to mind.
Oh, and also Inception. And The Dark Knight. The climax of the latter in particular was the most intense thing ever for me back when I was obsessed with the film as a 12-13 year old.

Green Room
I saw it on Wednesday, and it is up there. I was literally sick from the adrenaline crash after the movie finished.

A recent one I watched that I gotta mention is La Cérémonie which literally had me sitting up with my hand covering my agape mouth for the last fifteen minutes of the film...

Just last week saw Killing ( Shun’ya Tsukamoto ), a martial arts film with a sense of dread and intensity that permeates throughout, it doesn’t give a lot of brackground to the characters but what was needed to know came through the actions that starts at the very beginning, and don’t know if the director was inspired by dogma 95 but it had a bit of that and added to that sense.
And Hereditary as well, unfortunately by the end I felt a bit cheated, like, why did I cared so much but doesn’t demerits what I saw for the first 2 hours.

Intense isn't really a word that brings many movies to mind tbh. Come and See probably one of the more most very intense films I've seen. Outer Space was kinda intense.

I'm disappointed in myself for only mentioning Speed now. One of most intense movies ever for sure.
Also, it gives me an excuse to post one of my favourite Simpsons jokes:

The Accused is the first (and only, really) film to come to mind. The assault scene is extremely hard to watch, but it's a necessary watch.

Oh honeys, The Bar by Spanish Director Alex de la Iglesia. Relentless plot twists and turns about a group of people stuck in a bar. I can't recommend it enough...
