What makes him think anyone wants to leave Norway to live in a country that has him as president, though

As usual, what he says is true/makes a good point but just words it very poorly.

There's more Norwegians in the United States than there are in Norway (approx 4.5 mil vs 86% of 5.2 mil)
I don't think they consider us a "shithole country"

I just meant that in general for when he makes controversial comments, which is why I said “true/makes a point”. There isn’t really a point that he’s making here (more like just a regular direct statement or running his mouth like you say) but what he says is true.

And I think most Haitians would agree that their country is a shithole.

Unless he plans to block immigration from every country outside of Europe, I suppose.

Well the immigration rollout from a few months back was a rejection of the lottery system and included things like an English requirement soooo, idk why you think there's no solution being offered. More similar to the immigration policy of countries like Canada which nobody seems to have a problem with.

Even Chris Rock is speechless. Then Rock, in the minds of many, dropped the ball, bringing three Asian children to the stage portraying “bankers” from finance firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. “They sent us their most dedicated, accurate and hard working representatives,” he said. “Please welcome Ming Zhu, Bao Ling and David Moskowitz.” He added: “If anybody’s upset about that joke, just tweet about it on your phone that was also made by these kids.”

Oh and your comment about it being home to more Norwegians is misleading. You're talking about people of Norwegian descent who immigrated to the Midwest mostly in the 19th century. The Norwegian immigration has shrunk if anything in recent times.

Maybe he thinks we might be able to afford some of Norway's social safety net luxuries if we took in more educated, English speaking, job prospect having immigrants than broke Hatians. Just a thought. Ehhh not that misleading. America still attracts far more immigrants than Norway, that's the point.

What point is he making? Because I honestly don't see one, I just see Trump running his mouth. The point he's making is that a country's immigration policy should be primarily designed to benefit its citizens, not the citizens of other countries That's a respectable point of view to have and I'm sure his press team will run with it as a strategy to rationalize it, but that's not what Trump said. None of the direct quotes from him corroborate that view nor do they indicate that that's the point he was trying to argue. Instead, they fall in line with his other recent statements in this same vein, such as that all Haitians have AIDS. Even if we choose to ignore the crass and disrespectful way he words his supposed arguments (which we shouldn't, because it's demoralizing to the office and only serves to further undermine whatever's left of this administration's respectability), there's really nothing here to suggest that that's the thought that went into his words in this case.

Whether his words are mean and crass is really irrelevant to his policy making decisions, which have for the most part been more along the lines of what I stated. To me, the policy is what he truly feels -- I take it more seriously than side conversations which are often laced with more vulgarity, ambiguity, and complexity. I wasn't there to hear it myself.

Wow, actually, African immigrants to this country are some of the most highly-educated people and Haitians who come over here are some of the most hardworking people. And you were trying to argue that there's no way Norway could look down on the US because there is a higher Norwegian population over here. But most of those people here are here because their ancestors immigrated here centuries ago, not in recent times, so that argument doesn't hold up is what I'm saying.

I didn't say African immigrants weren't highly educated. Nigerians especially do extremely well in this country. Very highly educated and speak English right off the bat. We should be taking more of them. I'm sure Haitians are hardworking. Didn't dispute that. But in general, mostly undereducated and impoverished nations wont be providing the most productive immigrants to an industrialized nation and service based economy.

Just because you think of it that way doesn't mean they do. Looks like a shithole to me and, like I said, most Haitians would agree. Well, I'm glad you think you can speak for most Haitians, but I will say that the ones I know have pride in their culture and history and they wouldn't shit on their own country for its problems caused by France. They would have a little more respect than that.

Also free university is a recipe for disaster.

I have pride in my Venezuelan culture and history but I recognize that the country is a shithole right now.
