What is stage trained supposed to even mean? Julia Roberts smoked Meryl in A:OC. K-Stew in The Cake Eaters is better than Lupita's Oscar-winning performance. That she trained for stage I generally have more regard for actors with extensive stage/training background, as I know they aren't fluking it into the industry based on looks or cuteness (yes, there are some fine untrained actors, but particularly in Hollywood, this is the typical way it goes). Anyone can be made to look good on film, as it is not fully the actors medium. Lighting, editing, sound design, visual effects can transform the quality of a performance. If you can't deliver on stage, you usually will get found out. So for me, someone like Lupita is clearly the real deal, and it's no surprise that she can roll onto a stage without breaking a sweat and earn a Tony nomination for her 2016 Broadway debut in Eclipsed. Lupita trained at one of best theatre programmes in the United States (Yale School Of Drama), and it's very obvious to see in her level of range and technique (the more film roles she does, the more obvious it's becoming). She didn't come this far because she had a great smile for the camera. Not saying Lupita is perfect (for me, she was comfortably the weakest of the ladies in Black Panther, but that may have been the nature of her role, which was less interesting than the other women), but in general, she's the real deal. Julia Roberts got eviscerated by critics on her Broadway debut and never went back. Fine movie star, but there are levels to this acting game.

Talking about overpraised performances and then mentioning Lupita in the very next sentence? LOL Stewart absolutely kills it in this film, and the trio were better imo. I legitimately had tears streaming down my face because I was laughing so hard. I will be bumping this thread to laugh at all these bad takes when A) it does better than the ridiculously campy 2003 installment with critics and B) slays the box office. Let's not go there with Lupita. I've made an effort to let bygones be bygones and leave certain things in the past and move forward and give people chances to show they've changed (often to my regret), but your particular history regarding actresses of color doesn't leave you in the best position to be overly judgemental here. I think she's a gifted, stage trained actress with an expansive range who has made the most of limited opportunities and I think Stewart is overrated and limited in range. Whether Stewart ends up being decent in this movie is not something that will alter my thoughts on their relative skill-set or talent level. Let's leave it at that. As for this film, I don't really give a damn if it makes 1 dollar or 1 trillion dollars. To me, based on the trailer alone, it looks like deep fried ass. But if you've seen it and enjoyed it, good for you. This is the second time you’re bringing up race when I’m sticking to topic of actors and/or film. You’re clearly still bothered by my comment, which is understandable. I don’t know what to suggest though, maybe putting me on ignore? While I don’t stand by what I said, I’m certainly not going to wince words or walk on eggshells three years later. I think Lupita is a highly overrated actress and that’s that on that!

You responded to me with your random "LOL" about a black actress. Given your past, maybe you should have thought twice about sending that in my direction. You were the one that sent me a PM asking for forgiveness regarding your behavior on various sites and previous outbursts of racism (yes, I read it). I made no such overtures to you, as I wasn't concerned about you either way. This was last year, not 3 years ago. And off the back of that show of alleged maturity, I decided to move on. But I'll never forget. I don't need to put you on ignore. You generally do your thing without bothering me. Whether you want to walk on eggshells or live your best life around me is your business

I apologized because I can admit when I’ve gone too far with the trolling antics. What you do with that is completely up to you but either way, I’ll continue to give my opinion about films.

I think you can do whatever you want. But my feeling is that if you want to make people forget that you went into racist outbursts against respected black actresses in the past, probably avoid going after another respected black actress to mock. I dunno, that would just be what I'd do, but as you said, you can say or do as you wish.
Other than that piece of advice (which you can take or leave as you wish), I think your content and contribution here tends to be pretty good.

Must a movie be good?
Is it not enough to bask in the glory of spending two hours watching Kristen Stewart exist?
That's it, that's the review.
