I'm torn between saying The Exorcist, which is my #5 film of all-time, but then I consider it less a horror and more a drama with some horrific scenes. On the other hand Halloween is most definitely a horror and that's the one my heart is saying, while my head is saying The Exorcist. Holy hell, I do ramble on like a twat sometimes . The Exorcist is my favourite Horror film!!!

A gem that has yet to be mentioned... Colonial American realism meets ghoulish nightmare fantasy - one of the all-time great film atmospheres.

HELENA MARIA @tyler Sleepy Hollow is also among my favourite Horror films. Ditto! Fantastic cast (especially Miranda Richardson as the evil Lady Van Tassell), score, editing, costumes, set and cinematography. Loved the poetically gothic atmosphere of the film. The opening scene was genuinely terrifying. One of the best movies of the 90's for sure.

It really is a marvel in terms of the tech side of filmmaking, so it's nice that the Oscars gave it most of the credit it was due in that regard. The cinematography in particular is some of my favourite ever. It really is just a gorgeously ugly film.

It's visually stunning, masterfully alternating beauty and horror. The scene where Ichabod Crane dreams about his mother truly epitomizes that. I just love that brutal interruption of the reverie.
