I mean, Cameron could pull a T2 out of this and make it better than the first... but the only issue here with that is that I really enjoy T1 as well, whereas Avatar 1... not so much. Still, never count out Cameron... though I don't think any of the sequels will come close to the original's popularity. This is pretty much my sentiments on the issue. I will give the first sequel a watch in the hopes it might be an improvement on the lame first. If not, then I'll give any further installments a miss for sure.

Supposedly, Avatar 2 and 3 have finished filming and a release date has been announced for both of them.
I liked the first one, I'll definitely give the second one a watch.

Avatar is so, so bad and forgettable despite its incredible CGI that I can't see myself watching these whole saga unless he pulls some must-see-on-a-big-screen visual effects.

2021????? Isn't this supposed to be a wrap a while now??? Probably a lot of reshoots. Not to mention he’s filming them all at the same time.

Performance capture wrapped filming in 2018, live action filming is ongoing: collider.com/avatar-sequels-filming-live-action/#imagesI guess that's why we got casting announcements as late as last month (Michelle Yeoh).

bump! Filming has officially resumed in New Zealand. COVID19 doesn't want that James Cameron smoke folks. He is going to knock our socks off with these sequels. Although I was under the impression that the filming of the 1st sequel was already a wrap so its sorta confusing to follow . One thing is for sure , Sigourney has aged like fine wine. Damn I love that woman! Here's a recent picture of her on the set of the Avatar seque(s).

They're spending that kind of budget on movies that makes Pixar look advanced...

I know the image looks like Avatar 2: The Game but I have a feeling this film is going to do gangbusters at the box-office. Don't bet against Cameron. What if this film is the savior Hollywood needs at the theaters?

Maybe it will do gangbusters, but is anyone really that excited for it? The movie seemingly completely faded from the cultural conversation.

Would've been better off showing concept art rather than an obviously unfinished digital image. Probably doesn't matter to Cameron, though, this will probably end up grossing $1 billion in China alone.

I think once PR starts you’ll start seeing more people interested in seeing this. I remember seeing this in IMAX (which was difficult for the first couple weeks or so), and prior to actually seeing it, I openly made fun of the trailers for it. Once it started I realized I was wrong, and by the time I got to the scene with Sully running for the first in time his Avatar form, I was in awe. I had never seen anything like it and I think many had the same experience I did, and they’ll be curious if this measures up to the experience they remember having.

Avatar is one of the few blockbusters that even reached people who do not regularly watch movies. So while there's not much "discussion" of the 2009 film today, by whatever metric we decide by, i'm sure the momentum and interest will build up once the promotions begin.

Who cares if it's not discussed much these days (why would it be? what movies do get years of non-stop post-release discussion at all today?) when the key thing is that everybody knows and remembers it. When the trailer for the sequel comes up, nobody's gonna be like 'Huh? What's Avatar?'. It's the highest-grossing film of all time, for Pete's sake
