Yeah, that trailer isn't particularly convincing. Basically looks like James Gunn trying to recreate his Guardians Of The Galaxy vibe....except almost all these characters seem unlikable and charmless, unlike the Guardians. Maybe I'll buy into this with further trailers, but this doesn't exactly look like a must-see right now. Trying very hard to be cool and edgy, but just feels try-hard.

"This is suicide." "Well that's kind of our thing."
That might be ... even worse.
And why does this literally look like a fan film that a bunch of celebs agreed to appear in.

Dogshit, sticky toiler paper, a sharkman tearing dudes in half, a giant starfish, TV-like visuals...was this made by kindergarten students?

Hard to believe Warner Brothers is cancelling the Snyderverse for this It's just odd how WB/DC has been just the Bizarro world of Marvel after Nolan's trilogy had ended. Whereas Marvel keeps having box-office success and acclaim, DC just keeps fucking up. Kevin Feige might be one of the greatest hires in Hollywood studio history.

Eh, looks whatever. I don't think it looks as bad as everyone else here seems to think. Exactly what I'd expect from a Troma filmmaker doing a superhero movie without Kevin Feige over his shoulder.

That guy deserves all his flowers. Great at man management (just about everyone who works for him loves him. Even guys who left the Marvel fold due to creative differences like Edgar Wright have made efforts to keep a relationship with Feige). Is a fan himself, so knows what the fans want. But also understands the business and practicality of movie-making. Dude is a one-in-a-million producer/executive. Warner Brothers is full of egotistical executives and producers trying to carve out their own piece of the pie with these DC properties , and it feels like a snake infested pit where no one can be trusted. From Kevin Tsujihara to Geoff Johns to Walter Hamada...none of these guys inspire confidence and loyalty like Feige. Even though Snyder's first two DC films had a mixed to poor critical reception and didn't make as much box office as they hoped for, the passion fans have shown for his vision and Zack Snyder's Justice League suggests they panicked too quickly in abandoning Snyder's vision. It seems like it eventually could have become something cohesive enough to compete with Marvel. If they were willing to weather the storm.

I think it speaks to those pesky studio exectuvies lack of confidence with the brand. I totally get why they're doing their own thing, but it feels like and is apparent, they don't have any actual proper direction with their films.

Well in the case of the Suicide Squad property/franchise, they made a mistake not trying to bring Will Smith back. I don't know if it was more he didn't want to come back, or if WB/Gunn decided they wanted to go somewhere else with the group, but he was one of the few highlights of the first film and not having him back is going to be glaring based on what I see so far. I'm a fan of Idris Elba but he ain't Will Smith.

I'm a fan of Idris Elba but he ain't Will Smith. You are 100% right. Will Smith is a huge missing component. He was arguably the best thing about the first film. Elba cannot replace him. I think they have also bought in too much to the idea that Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is the star of the show that everyone wants to see. The box office disappontment/failure of Birds Of Prey should have told them that is not the case. I think Robbie plays the character well, but I find the character annoying in large doses. Harley Quinn should be a side character, not someone front and centre as the star.

I dunno, it could be funny but... probably not that funny.
Not really convinced although I think I'll end up watching it.

King Shark, he's a character from the comics. Basically a superpowerful sea supervillain creature. In the New 52 version of Suicide Squad, he basically becomes a member of the team.

I agree, Harley Quinn is not meant to be the straightforward lead of a feature, although I'd also argue that Birds of Prey was probably hurt by the reception of the first Suicide Squad, it did not do as well as they expected it to. Also apparently Will Smith didn't decide to come back. I assume cause of conflicts with something else he was shooting? I'd honestly be surprised if he wasn't at least asked back. Elba's a good replacement, but he's also a bit of a lazy choice if I'm being honest.

An improvement from the first movie, but it's not like it's hard to accomplish lmao I like Gunn's writing, even if some jokes didn't land for me. Should be fun, but it won't be on GOTG's level.

So James Gunn is hinting that there's an original song contender for this film. People are speculating that Hozier, Adele, or Bruno Mars might be responsible.

RELEASE THE GUNN CUT! - inevitable reaction when the movie sucks.
Then again, Birds of Prey had something like a high-80's on RT... who knows anymore.

I had fun with this. It’s not perfect, but definitely much better than the first. Robbie has the best scene in the film but Elba is the MVP imo. I didn’t watch the trailer but I’m a little surprised that people are actually entertaining the idea of this being worse than the first given the track records of the directors involved.
