So i'm guessing it was good????? I thought it was amazing. So much potential. Apparently it gets better after the first few episodes too.

I’m kind of there with you. That opening! That’s some reinvention of the Superman origin story!

Can’t say I’m surprised to see people getting touched about the political and especially racial themes of this show and thus giving this shit ratings already.

Can’t say I’m surprised to see people getting touched about the political and especially racial themes of this show and thus giving this shit ratings already. Which is ironic since the comic it's based off of is littered with politics (not so much race). Haven't checked it out yet, but how much of Watchmen does it follow and how much does it totally disregard?

That pilot was stunning. If the rest of the series can hold to the opener's quality, it can easily rival The Leftovers.

Haven't checked it out yet, but how much of Watchmen does it follow and how much does it totally disregard? With only one episode down to infer from, it seems all of the original 12 comic issues are canon. Redford became president, Vietnam is a state, squids, etc.

Snyder BTFO. That premiere was solid, it's a mess but it's tapping into the essence of the source material beautifully. The criticisms of its politics are so silly to me, it seems like a no-brainer to me to depict a white supremacy terrorist organization as the main adversaries in this type of story -- it's such a far cry from the material of this genre we're normally exposed to like Marvel who are so deliberately out-of-touch with any conflicts or context with sociopolitical relevance to the present that it's hard to know what we're supposed to truly take away from it. Through the first episode Lindelof has taken the complicated alternate history setting of Moore's source material and extended it three decades into the here and now, developing an incredibly-realized universe that is equal parts fantastical and reflective. It's a suffocating dystopia, and while we haven't seen much outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma so far, it's not hard to imagine what it's like elsewhere.
With The Boys premiering this year as well there was a natural concern about how relevant this show would even be with that one tackling similar thematic ground and doing so very well, but it goes without saying that Watchmen has already carved out a drastically different voice and purpose for itself and that the two series can actually complement each other quite nicely. It's not a perfect pilot and I would say that thus far it's been a bit too grim and I'm wanting more from the personalities of the characters, but it's a promising start to something that could become really special.
Also: the Reznor/Ross score slaps.

I really enjoyed it and the promos for the upcoming episodes made me even more hyped. Looks like it’ll build on the lore of the original story.
The world building was my favorite part and I’m really excited to explore this world in future episodes. Even though both cops and superheroes are pretty oversaturated in media currently, this really feels like it’s gonna be unique.
Those IMDb reviews though...yikes.

Sorta at a loss as to the lauding of that premiere. It was rather good, but not too much more. I'll check out at least three episodes and then make a call on cutting my losses or carrying on.

Damn good premiere imo. The Reznor/ Ross score was fucking awesome and of course there was Don FUCKING Johnson singing a great tune. Count me in on sticking with this one. We are in for a wild ride folks.

Another fan fuckin tastic episode! All 3 episodes have been great but this latest one (Episode 3) was utterly superb! I'll echo the sentiments that Jean Smart is a fantastic actress. Loved her on Legion as well .

Love the reference to the "Nothing ever ends" line in ep. 2. Once again, fuck you, Snyder.

Just got myself caught up. Couldn't stop laughing at the rotisserie style aging process. This is pretty stellar, great cast, high stakes, and plenty of whatthefuckery to be had.

The thing I love about Watchmen is that each time you think you've pegged the MVP of the series, the next episode shatters that. Tonight was Tim Blake Nelson's hour, and he came correct. That final shot hit like a gut-punch.
