Given how the rumors state that Matthew Vaughn is their back-up (and judging how awful Argylle looks and bad the kingsman sequels were), I'd take 60's set Nolan flicks over that any time.

Not sure how I feel about this, if true. He'd have to impress with a really solid take that his is own and distinct enough from Craig's portrayal... A tough act to follow.

Decent choice, but nothing exciting.

The biggest "meh" who ever meh'd.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson isn't a bad actor, but he is not an exciting one. More often than not, I find him to kinda fade into the woodwork. Which works for a spy in real life, I guess, but I want Bond to have a personality and an edge to him.

Yeah, it feels weird to have a Bond who is 1) already a bit of a name coming into the part, and 2) been a part of several high-profile projects and been thoroughly mediocre in them. I trust the Bond auditioning process which has so far seemed foolproof so maybe Taylor-Johnson has more up his sleeve, but if this is true it's a bit disappointing. Especially since coming off Craig's legendary run this was really a prime time to go in a new, bold direction.

It's especially frustrating because for the last decade, you've had people clamouring for Idris Elba, so the demand is high to go for a Bond of colour, or at least someone who isn't your generic white guy. And if you looked up "generic" in the dictionary, you'd see the immediately forgettable face of Aaron Taylor-Johnson. I think it'd be amazing if they cast him, only to kill him off in the first ten minutes and the rest of the series follows a different guy as Bond.

prior to bullet train i wouldn’t think he’d have the charisma to pull it off but after his performance as tangerine i think he’d do a decent job. it’s definitely one of the safer choices. i wish they went with someone else though. idris would be amazing but i understand that ship has probably sailed now.
out of all the rumoured names fassbender and patel were always my standouts.
whoever does get chosen, they’ll have huge shoes to fill. craig gave amazing performances in those movies. sure he had more to work with due to the quality of the scripts he was given, but even in the lesser movies like quantum of solace and spectre he was always a blast to watch.

Yeah, Patel has been my top choice for agessss. Also liked the idea of Riz Ahmed, Oliver Jackson-Cohen or Dan Stevens.

Not saying no to Aaron but I would prefer Dan Stevens.

I was really rooting for Richard Madden for Bond. Not only in my opinion he's already auditioned for Bond in at least a few of his roles, he has both the IT factor and an exceptional acting range. He would bring something exciting to look out for. I have a hard time seeing how this Aron thing will work out in any good way for this franchise...

Regé-Jean Page was my personal pick. I always prefer the idea of Bond being a movie star-making role rather than giving it to someone with a higher profile. I think Page has the suave charisma and comedic ability to make him a good fit for the role and he would serve as a different direction from Craig whose Bond leaned more on the character's death drive.

Not that it should matter, since it's acting, but there's a lot of speculation around his sexuality, which might spook producers, as Bond is supposed to be a dreamboat to heterosexual women. Tabloid press might have a field day, trying to dig into his personal life if he's cast. Rupert Everett, who is openly gay, was supposedly being considered for Bond when Piers Brosnan was reluctant to continue the role with Die Another Day ( Brosnan eventually did sign back on for the movie) but believes he didn't get the opportunity to play Bond because he was openly gay. Based on his performance in An Ideal Husband, I think Everett would have made an interesting and very suave Bond.
