Any clue on who QT is considering to play Manson? Manson doesn't have to appear at all. If he does it will probably be a tiny role. I know Manson isn’t the focal point and is more of a backstory to the film, but I imagine he’d be in it for like 20-30 minutes or so. Unless something new from the script has been released and I haven’t read it.

I don't see how Polanski can take part in the movie if it is shot in the US.

Amalric is definitely the right pick. He basically played Polanski in "Venus In Fur".

Someone on AW suggested Martin Freeman but I agree that they should go with a relative unknown.

I'm thinking Christopher Waltz will play Polanski.

Yes. If Leo drops out, they'll have a hard time justifying the 100m budget. The Hateful Eight made 54m US on a 44m budget.

If you include that, 75m is still way to high. Coupled with the fact that an A list star just dropped out because of the backlash... Who would want to join the movie at that point?

Who would want to join the movie at that point? There's plenty of talented people out there who'd probably still join. Probably not all that famous but he could still bring his regulars like Michael Madsen, James Parks, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, etc.

Sounds like fake news. This was reported 4 days ago too, before QT's apology. They should change the release date though.

Eh, I wouldn't trust Showbiz 411 with something like this.

Sony is having 2nd thoughts on Tarantino's Manson project...
Over his Polanski comment?
Anyhow, 2019 would just be around the corner before they know it. That release date may not stick around for so long.

Finally got around to seeing The Hateful Eight and surprisingly I liked it - the first QT film since Pulp Fiction I can say that about. No kung fu overwritten stuff, or cheesy alternate history nonsense just a sort of straight Western update on Reservoir Dogs. As always the air came out of it in the last hour but it didn't go full stupid like after he won't shake Calvin Candie's hand either.....good performances all around, violence was tough but not cartoonish, some striking images, a coherent screenplay that probably bored most people but I dig this sort of filmed play thing...... 7/10 maybe a little higher even.
Kind of a little more excited to see what he comes up with for this project now.

Kind of a little more excited to see what he comes up with for this project now. I've got so many bloody problems with The Hateful Eight. Primarily I hate how it feels like it wants to go in several different directions (fresh and bold ones, at that), but Tarantino restricts it to the same predictable track. And I hate how he gives up the ghost on the poison reveal by narrating over it. If that scene had happened out of nowhere, it would've been far more effective. I really hate how regressive Tarantino has become as a filmmaker.

The narration was a terrible mistake, he always does that, you know, you can flag the exact point where he decided "yeah that's good enough I'm not rewriting it"

The narration was a terrible mistake, he always does that, you know, you can flag the exact point where he decided "yeah that's good enough I'm not rewriting it" There are so many lazy crutches in this script (that narration, the ridiculous over-repetition of certain lines/gags, the list goes on) that I'd argue it's Tarantino's second-weakest overall script. I'm also not really big on Morricone's contribution to the piece; his original score is derivative as well and doesn't really do it for me. The actors are what save the piece for me.
