I do hope Damian Lewis' Steve McQueen gets justice in the new (uncut) cut... You didn't like his 2 minute expositional oral history of tertiary characters??? I just need more!!!

I thought Margot Robbie said she was happy with how her performance ended up in the movie? "Stars....they lie, just like us".

There's some stuff of hers in the original trailer that never made it into the final cut.
Jokes aside, i do want to see the longer version of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

In which MAR discovers the concept of an assembly cut But yeah, QT has said that they shot a looooot of material and that overall he worked in a bit of a looser mode on this one, even allowing some improv.

If he kept all those scenes and the ones in the first original trailer, he would have won Best Picture

That DiCap-Pacino scene in elongated form is probably a laugh riot going by what DiCap said about it.........I'm sure we'll see it one day in full .....did anybody ever read that thing on Reddit (I think it was?) about how Marvin pulls out the chair for Rick to sit - almost as a way to insult his masculinity - like you would do for a lady ...........and the look that Rick gives him when he does it

I'm sure it has happened before, but I'm also sure it doesn't happen often. Three all-time legends in the same frame: Wish it lasted a little longer.

I didn't know he named his son Leo - sure he's named after the ol wife's grandfather, sureeeee!
That VHS game is hilarious - his movie brain is insane. I mean, Earl Owensby? Or even knowing that Chris Makepeace was in Mazes and Monsters, are we sure Tarantino wasn't all over the IMDb boards back in the day!?
Btw is anyone gonna ask him while he's on his book tour if and when he'll release the longer OUATIH cut?
Also.... QT will be on the WTF Podcast tmrw, should be an interesting listen.

I know, I can't believe he knew all that about those movies. I've seen two interviews and so far nobody has asked that question. Bill Maher did ask him about his 10th film and he said he did think about doing a Reservoir Dogs reboot for his final film but he won't. He gave no hints to what the last one will be though.

This precious retirement thing of his bugs me. I get that it may be kinda fun to talk about 'what you'll go out on' , but I kinda loathe that he seems to be serious about it like it matters. So you have examples of directors dwindling....well there are lotta examples of directors in their 60s-70s doing great work too. Why hold/limit yourself to self-skewed stats.... Who cares anyway?!!

I've always figured what will happen is, he'll make one more, follow through with the whole retirement thing and say he's so pleased with the product that he has no issue stopping there. Then in five years time or so, he'll write something and get a major itch to put it onscreen, and he'll probably try to ignore that itch for a minute, but then he'll give in and do it. He's way too in love with what he does to resist the urge if it should come to him.

That's my thinking too which is why I'm like alright cut the shieet and lower your voice, Clint and Scorsese are standing right over there.

Scorsese and Eastwood aren't really writer-directors, though. Even if the stories they tell are intensely personal at times, there is always that separation.

Well his own set of examples don't include writer-directors so why should we. Don Siegel never wrote a movie in his life. I think it stands Clint, Marty etc are old and getting older and still working... and QT is saying: you'll get worse. Maybe maybe not, but I'd take someone swinging over his puffed early-stop any day. What fan of his would want that?? Only one more film?? His thinking suggests that Wyler should've stopped at Ben Hur - "Boom, baby! Mic, dropped." - but then we wouldn't have those last five films that prove and continue his great talent- star charm and remarkable dare. I just don't buy it... thank god Schrader didn't quit. Thank god Ferrara is doing his thing. Joel Coen is 66... so what?

I hope he reteams with DiCaprio one last time for his final film. He was extraordinary in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and Django Unchained
Btw I think he once said in an interview that he wanted to make a Bonnie and Clyde type of gangster film set in the 1930s. That may be the perfect swan song for him.

In mild defense of Tarantino, because I know that really his whole deal is ultimately the "old directors make bad movies" ageist shit, but he has also mentioned occasionally that he personally just isn't looking forward to doing the job in his old age physically...he's said he doesn't want to be out location scouting in his 70s. And that part I can't really blame him when you hear about Scorsese having to be piggybacked around mountains shooting Silence lol. I mean, fucking respect, but I can see why somebody would be like "no thanks." And he could obviously always write more contained stories for cinema if that's all he was worried about, but if he'd rather spend his time on books, essays, maybe theater instead as he's claimed he wants to do, then sure, put his money where his mouth is.

Unpopular opinion but he could have retired after the Basterds lol Honestly, I agree. Or, at the very least, he could've taken a Malick-esque hiatus. Flush out that alternate-history revenge bullshit because it worked once to perfection but everything else has been diminishing returns.
