Hell yeah. That episode is amazing too. Holy shit, those Lithgow/Dillane scenes were fucking incredible. Everything came together perfectly in those scenes, the acting, the writing, the direction. Combine that with Foy near the end - "can you say the same?" - and you have a pretty spectacular hour of the show. The finale's pretty great too.

The Americans (s01 - Trust Me)
Best episode so far. I'm loving it. Every aspect of the story, the politics, romance, mystery, the couple's family life etc, so neatly balanced. I just hope the quality continues. And of course, Russell + Rhys = 🔥 🔥 🔥 PS : Russell sounds exactly like Michelle Pfeiffer, yes?

I finished the first season of The Crown. I enjoyed it a lot. I don't know if I've seen a show this historically precise since Mad Men, and not just in its excellent and timely sets and costumes, but in the way it embodies the cultures and goings-on of the time. The writing is great, somehow making engaging stories out of events and characters that I never thought would work well as a television series. Their conflicts seemed a bit petty at first, but as it went along I realized that it's a really brilliant take on the price of power, particularly with how Elizabeth develops and how her new role takes a toll on those around here, most notably Phillip and Margaret. Foy and Lithgow are as great as everyone says they are, but really the entire ensemble is excellent. Matt Smith is just riveting, and Jared Harris makes the most out of his small part with an incredibly tender and endearing performance. My favorite episode was "Assassins" (the show peaks with those Lithgow/Dillane scenes), but "Scientia Potentia Est" and "Act of God" were also masterful. Can't wait for season two.

Episode 5 of Peaky Binders. Wasn't quite sold on the first two episodes, but it's definitely picked up a good deal.

So I'm three episodes into The Americans. I like it. A lot. But it's totally different than what I've seen people praise it as. I was expecting a more slow-burn character drama akin to Mad Men and whatnot, but it's a much more entertainment-driven drama similar to the likes of The Shield and Justified. At least, it has been up to this point. It's really fun, entertaining, and addicting, though sometimes its writing isn't terribly subtle and it has its fair share of tropes.

Oh man, you think it's good now, just wait. Each season vastly improves on the last, and it was always pretty good. It's a bit of a weird show in regard to entertainment or slow-burn driven, as I'd say it's really a mixture. I'd say in general, it is a slow-burn character drama, especially in later seasons, but the suspense, spy element of the show is a consistent presence. I think it's a great balance, especially when they really get into how the spy work effects them personally. You have a lot to look forward to.

I just finished the first season of The Americans, and I don't think there was any dull moment on the show. Very intriguing and just amazing so far. That knockout finale sure promises to have a great Season 2 as well. Loving it.

Big Little Lies episode 2.
Solid second episode, liked it a bit more than the first. Witherspoon is still killing it dead, Woodley is great, and Kidman is finally starting to get the material she deserves.

Witherspoon is still killing it dead, Woodley is great, and Kidman is finally starting to get the material she deserves. Right? It's getting weirder and creepier. And that scene with Kidman and Skarsgard was very scary. But yeah, the cast is superb with Witherspoon being the MVP in this tailor made role. Her quieter moments are pretty great. Overall, pretty great second episode and really intrigued to see what's next.

Overall, pretty great second episode and really intrigued to see what's next. Yeah that Kidman/Skarsgard scene was pretty horrifying, mainly due to how well done it was. I loved how the camera remained kind of frozen for a lot of it, as the tension built up and you didn't know how things were gonna go for a moment.

Halt and Catch Fire 3.7
As someone (in the minority, I think) that vastly preferred season 2 to 1 (girls rule!) I was truly let down by the first 6 episodes of this season. Kicked into overdrive in this episode.

Big Little Lies: Episode 2.
Even better than the premiere! The direction and editing felt better and less choppy, the scenes breathed much better than last time, it felt more slow burn but still more story progress than last time. The ensemble is just excellent.

Oz, Exeunt Omnes
Really sloppy end to a show that was one of the greats for the first 40 or so episodes, but I guess an over all weak series finale was in keeping with the nose dive it suffered in its last two seasons.
