Bob Dylan, Lisbon, Portugal. It was fucking amazing to see this legend performing right before my eyes, being Bob Dylan and nobody else.

MGMT was amazing. One of the best times of my life. It was short (around an hour and a half), but that’s alright. I don’t think I’ll ever have a better time at a concert since they’re my favorite band and they played my favorite song of all time. I would love to go and see them during a musical festival though with a huge crowd. Like Glastonbury. Here’s a video of the concert (not my video or the concert I was at, but it was the exact same way in Calgary).

Saw Roger Daltrey perform Tommy with the Boston Pops last night... pretty fantastic stuff.
Then he did Who Are You (awesome), Baba O'Riley (visceral and almost life-changing), and Always Heading Home (from his new album... actually really good).
Sounded like he is trying to convince Pete to hit the road with him next year... I hope it happens.

Saw Paul Simon last week. Absolutely glorious -- the man's still got it. He had three encores and I was so pleased he played my favorite song American Tune.

Went to see Weezer and Pixies perform together earlier this week. Pixies were incredible performers though a bit lacking in showmanship -- I've never seen a band so methodically plow through a setlist without any connection with the audience whatsoever. It was remarkably professional, but way too formalist for the setting. Weezer were absolutely incredible, though. They put on a hell of a show, they inject a ton of creative elements into their performance and sound amazing live. Also helps that they played a killer setlist that featured most of their best work.
Amazing concert overall, it was a really fun night.

Last rock concert - Nine Inch Nails in 2008 lol
Last concert in general - Miro Quartet performing all the Brahms quartets at my school a couple years ago

Dead and Company.
Have to say I was crazy impressed with John Mayer filling in for the Jerry Garcia role of the band. He vocally nails the songs and completely shreds on guitar. He clearly is enjoying himself quite a bit doing this on the side and jamming out.

Saw Death Grips last night. Got whacked in the mouth, headbutted, thrown about, etc. Absolutely exhausting. Also, unironically have tinnitus now. In other words, pretty fucking great.

Amazing concert overall, it was a really fun night. Saw this combo a few weeks ago (and just remembered this thread)... and had pretty much the same experience as you. Pixies sounded amazing (and Black Francis can still growl pretty good) but seemed almost clinical to me. Also seemed like they were on and off the stage in no time at all. Then Weezer came on and it was almost the total opposite experience... It was a very Weezer-heavy crowd though... most of 'em were half-comatose for the Pixies, and then when Weezer revved up My Name is Jonas they were up dancing like maniacs with some questionable white people rhythm. The crowd also went their wildest when they did the Africa cover. Also not sure if I needed to hear Rivers do a solo acoustic rendition of No Scrubs... But yeaaah... definitely a great concert. Experiencing Here Comes Your Man/Where is My Mind back-to-back may have changed my life.

Experiencing Here Comes Your Man/Where is My Mind back-to-back may have changed my life. Yeah, sounds about right on all fronts, lol. Sad to think there's a whole generation of Weezer "fans" who consider that Toto cover their big song ... ugh. The fact that their sets are still focused on the early stuff definitely redeems it, though. And I'll admit I got into "Africa" in the moment -- I mean, it's not everyday you can hear an iconic '80s anthem played live, it's hard not to get excited -- but it's not why I paid the price of admission... And I wouldn't mind that Rivers solo cover of "No Scrubs." (He did "Take on Me" at my show, which was pretty awesome & more suitable for that type of performance obviously.) I find their cover hilarious, it's really the only track on The Teal Album that I felt had any reason to exist, even if that reason is just to further codify Weezer as meme ... eh, I'll take it. My crowd definitely wasn't into the Pixies set either which was a bummer. Loved the performance, but with that bored atmosphere, it was just hard to get into the same way I did Weezer's set. Oh well. Still an awesome show.

Last month I saw Bowie A Celebration: The David Bowie Alumni Tour. Mike Garson, Earl Slick, Carmine Rojas and Mark Plati performed. Chris Hadfield was also a special guest and did Space Oddity which gave me goosebumps. People were rocking out and dancing in the aisles. It was such a blast.

The two old guys still kick a good amount of ass... and the addition of the orchestra definitely made things more exciting. Great, varied setlist too...

Last one I went to was The Voidz last year. Really fun time. Planning to see The Strokes ASAP and hoping they put out a new album in the meantime.

About to make JangoB jealous... Saw The National in Brooklyn last night ... outdoor venue in Prospect Park with standing room only, so I managed to get pretty close to the stage, not quite front row or anything but certainly closer than I'd ever been at any show prior (abt. 10-15 feet away, something like that) ... it started semi-disastrously, they opened with "You Had Your Soul With You," the audio was mixed poorly and no one could hear any vocals ... they cranked up the volume and then they started absolutely destroying ... and then it started pouring rain (like, heavy goddamn rain, minor flooding in the streets afterward, had to take my glasses off just to see better type of rain) in the middle of their set and that's when it got reeeeeallllly goddamn fun. Of course like five people bailed so everyone pushes in closer to the stage, all the true fans sticking it out to the end ... the setlist was amazing, they pulled a *beautiful* performance of "Green Gloves" out of absolutely nowhere, destroyed "Sea of Love" and "Apartment Story" back-to-back, and then gave a legendary rendition of "System Only Dreams..." as the rain reached goddamn monsoon levels. By the time they were playing "Pink Rabbits" with everyone shouting along the lyrics in the pouring rain I'm pretty sure my soul levitated out of my body. Of course they were heavy on I am Easy to Find (esp. in the first half of the set), a lot of which is even better live than on the album, "The Pull of You" and "Hey Rosey" sounded phenomenal, but the highlight (at least of the new stuff) may have been "So Far So Fast" -- hollllllllly shit did they kill that one, such a low-energy song on the album but anything but played live, it was absolutely insane. And on a few tracks they were joined by the (wonderful) Brooklyn Youth Chorus, they were just heavenly on "Oblivions" and "So Far So Fast" in particular ... What an incredible show, the setlist was immaculate, the atmosphere was so much fucking fun ... so many factors combined to make it such a special show, it'll be awhile before I see a performance this great again, I'm sure. And the great indie rocker Courtney Barnett opened for them ... she was fucking phenomenal as well ... I've loved her music already and she's a truly incredible live performer, so glad I got to see her as well, and the audience loooved her, I've never seen an opening act get that kind of response before.

Saw The Cure yesterday. They were pretty spectacular. Setlist and show were on point, the only thing is that they only had two hours to play. I gotta say, the Plainsong and Pictures of You show starter is just so, so good.

I gotta say, the Plainsong and Pictures of You show starter is just so, so good. I saw them last month in Lisbon. It was a spectacular show They started the concert with Shake Dog, Shake and also played for two hours. I wish they could have started with Plainsong, as that's one of my favorites from them (if not my favorite). That's really my only complaint, though. It's a night I'll never forget.

Finally saw the fucking ROLLING STONES a couple of three days ago. The concert that my whole life has been leading up to since they've been the band I've loved the longest and my fandom has never cooled down over the years. Bought the cheapest tickets possible (Lucky Dip Lottery) and wound up in the pit... lmaooooo. Amazing setlist, sounded greaaaaaaaat, Mick somehow still going at 100 mph proving he's the greatest frontman in the history of frontmen, Keith's sly grins (and cig break during the opening of Sympathy for the Devil), Ronnie being cool as hell, and Charlie's mostly constant stoneface... all a joy to behold. Of course there was a bunch of stuff that I wanted to hear... but it's hard to complain when we're talking about the band with more great songs than anyone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Also saw Blondie along with Elvis Costello & The Imposters a few weeks before that. Blondie was great... and Debbie Harry is still unbelievably badass. Then Elvis and co. came out and brought the house down! They were about 3x louder than Blondie, kickass setlist, and sounded amazing. Also thankfully played my favorite song... High Fidelity. Definitely gotta make an effort to see them again the next chance I can.

Last night saw Beck, Cage the Elephant, and Spoon. Spoon were great but I definitely need to see them as a headliner ... crowd was too low energy for them, no one was really into it because no one was there for them (sadly) ... but still cool to see them live and hear a lot of my favorites. Cage fucking killed, absolutely brought the house down; played an incredible setlist, did so amazingly, the crowd got pumped and it was a blast. Finally having heard "Cigarette Daydreams" played live ... well, it was a spiritual experience that I was not ready for! And Matt Shultz is a genuine madman while performing and a hell of a fun frontman. So yeah, they absolutely killed it, and I'm already dying to see 'em again. Then Beck came on ... think he's becoming something of a tired old man because he definitely didn't deliver the way that Cage did ... and his performance of "Debra" might be one of the most wtf things I've seen live, he kinda just stopped playing the song after the first verse and then started rambling without even instrumentation and then barely got back into anything remotely musical ... but still his set was full of awesome moments and he played a lot of his highlights. And Beck's performance had some of the best psychedelic lighting displays I've ever seen live, so that was pretty awesome. Fun night!

I saw John Mayer again last Sunday and again it was just incredible. Setlist was great, I got a lot of songs he didn't play the last time (Heartbreak Warfare, Belief and In your Atmospehere to mention a few). But yeah, his guitar playing is just insanely good - I could listen to him just playing all night long.

I went and saw Goblin a couple of nights ago. They played Deep Red and did the live score as it was originally arranged. Then went on to do another hour+ set of some other famous themes they've composed over their years. Pretty stellar stuff.
Tonight, I just saw The Regrettes!!!!! Lydia has one of the best stage presence ever. Place was rocking. Only downer was that they didn't play my favorite of theirs "Dead Wrong", but that's the most silly complaint ever. AMAZING. It'll be great when they start crushing and dominating larger spots that I saw them at a 200ish capacity intimate venue
