Bought it for myself as a little treat for today. I used to play the table-top version of this game in the long, long ago (my goblin war band was quite possibly the most fun thing to ever exist... fucking animosity checks, I swear...) and wanted to know if anyone else had it. Sadly, because it's a computer game and therefore has certain limitations that the table top version does not, I must play as Empire instead of my precious goblins. I literally just started playing, so I'll let you all know if it's worth it (apparently it has a rather large learning curve and me being me, will not be trying the tutorial and just jumping off the bridge to see if I can swim...) (while not from my Mordeim goblins, these are a couple from my Ork 40k set... keep in mind these went 10 years without any touch-ups so they are a little dulled)

Of fucking course, I have my first successful mission... and my gang leader perma-dies.

I've never played a tabletop RPG before, because I've never had the friends to play it with. I've always been fascinated with the stuff and it looks really fun. Do you know how to find people to play with?

Do you know how to find people to play with? I used to go to the local games shop to play it (though, most of the time it was 40k rather than Mordheim)... they had the storefront, then in the back they had all the tables/terrain/buildings/etc so anyone there could play. But now, I'm coaxing my brother and a few friends to join in on a Mordheim campaign soon. Although Games Workshop (the company that makes it) "discontinued" the tabletop version, they uploaded the rulebook for free on their website... and all the models that you would need to make a warband can still be made using their current stock (usually a box or two of the plastic models would be more than enough, with maybe needing a particular pewter model if you really want to have one of them), so it's more or less them not publishing any more addendums to the rules and such (which aren't needed anyway the game is over 15 years old and most of the tweaks were already altered anyhow). Yeah. It's a ton of fun to play once you learn how it's done and of course painting and building your models are always great too.

I'm a fan of Darths and Droids, a webcomic that re-imagines the Star Wars movies as some kids playing a RPG, and the comic made the gameplaying look so much fun. But I've never even known about this stuff and I feel like I'd be getting out of my depth unless I have some people who would work with someone that has no exposure to these things.

I actually used to play the old Star Wars RPG (back in the old old days when it was still a d6 system) and Dungeons and Dragons (2E). D&D was a lot of fun because I had this one thief who was chaotic neutral and sometimes I would actually steal from other party members in secret. lol I got caught a couple of times but luckily my charisma stat was a 17 so I would manage to talk my way out of things sometimes... not so much others.

I'm having a lot of fun with this. I would never have spent full price on it, but with the Steam Summer Sale, I got a great bargain... and I'm only up to my second shipment to my superiors.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
One of my favorite guys perma-died! RIP Stuart Little (this warband are Skaven, which are like giant rat-men... so I named all of them after famous rats, Splinter being their fearless leader). Granted he lost one of his arms a while ago, but man, he still packed quite a wallop with his mace still.
Anyway, this game is like a 3D version of pokemon... complete with fucking sand-attacks and all.

Okay, I need some suggestions for character names for my Vanilla Human warband.
My previous Skaven (basically rat-men) warband were all named after rats/mice in films. I had Splinter (now in his 5th iteration), Scabbers (in his 6th), Mickey Mouse (5th), Mighty Mouse (only 2nd), and of course Crispin Glover (this one has perma-died more times than I remember what the number is, so we'll call it the 9th). All the non-"hero" characters were some variation of Stewart Little (Stewart, Stewie, Stew, K-Stew Little, and Hamish... I couldn't think of another Stewart variation. I don't keep track of how many times those guys died (or maimed, then promptly fired by me)... but they're easily in the tenth for each.
