Well, let me see if I got this straight: no modern American filmmakers are as playful, idiosyncratic, or as masterful in scene design as them and they are 35 years into their career.
No American filmmakers care about the written word more than them while everyone else basically tries to ignore the screenplay.
No American filmmakers more understand the country they live in and what comprises it in all its f'd up glory/absurdity/contradictions.
More than any working American actor James Franco (especially with The Disaster Artist added in) captures the joy of acting, the joy of performance better than anyone else.
Why isn't this #1 on everybody's "to see" list again?

Yeah, it's just a trailer but I'm not really sure what to make of it... seems like a lot is going on (maybe a... miniseries' length???) yet I don't really know wtf is even going on.
Getting MVP vibes from Franco and Ralph Ineson.
And my main takeaway..... Tom Waits has morphed into Nick Nolte.

Looks really good! Probably mid- to lower-tier Coens, which is still better than most directors' entire filmographies. Franco's final line in the trailer had me rolling. I love the cinematography so far, too. Looks way more stylized, off-kilter, and interesting than True Grit (I don't mean to be a contrarian but it's the most overrated work of Deakins' career; in fact True Grit is probably my third least favorite Coen brothers film in general).

Well it has to be better than either of the Franco Lifetime MOTW's.

Wow amazing!!! looks fun and smart! Is it A Tv Movie or long feature film? Originally produced as a miniseries for Netflix, it's now being released as a feature film on the platform.

Positives:James Franco Brendan Gleeson Tim Blake Nelson Zoe Kazan Possibly more in the realms of silly Coen, which I more often than not prefer Negatives:
I really don't like the look of it and if it wasn't coming to to FOC on Netflix, I wouldn't be rushing out to see it.

Never thought I'd say this, but James Franco looks fun. One of my film ambitions is to one day say the same thing about Michelle Williams.
