I said Astaire to even it out and because I'm in love with him. I've got the hots for Gene Kelly, but Fred Astaire was magic and pure class.

From what I've seen of the two, which is admittedly not too much, I have to give it to Gene Kelly.

This isn't even a competition for me. Kelly had some nice enthusiasm, but he couldn't rock a top hat like Astaire. My boy Fred all the way.

I always found Gene's dancing too stiff and calculating. My eyes were always on O'Connor in Singin' in the Rain.
Fred Astaire is pure class. No one can touch that man.

Not that I didn't love Gene Kelly's dancing, but I also always found myself watching Donald O'Connor more in their dancing scenes together too! Maybe it's because Gene Kelly was like a great machine, but Donald O'Connor's energy and spirit made him more fun to watch.
