First 3 are ones that are coming - watch me drop dead on the 26th..... 1. The Irishman Sept 27 screening - at least we get some reviews (no not going) 2. The Replacements Dead Man's Pop Boxset - September 27 3. NFL football 4. Poems of Dylan Thomas 5. Rewatches of old episodes of Night Gallery/Ghost Story
Still these above for the last month but lately I've become slightly crazy with trying to replicate as much of the wardrobe as possible that the great Paul Weller wears in this video - and I mean the whole video wardrobe from suit, shirts, tie, (amazing) overcoat, to sweater, to leather jacket. It's a project

All things Japan! I'm visiting for the first time in April - words can't express how excited and grateful I am for the opportunity. Romy Schneider in Visconti's Il lavoro. I mean, who doesn't want to lounge around a Roman palazzo surrounded by kittens and Chanel? Lee Grant's and Beau Bridges' extraordinary mother-son chemistry in Hal Ashby's The Landlord. Grant for the immensity of her talent, and Bridges mostly because of the cuteness. I just had my hair cut - now I want to grow it all back out!

Music : Peter Laughner Boxset (2019) - The cover songs on here are completely fascinating - Robert Johnson, Stones, Dylan, Reed, Richman, Richard Hell (and some more too) and they were all IN the moment - he was no hipster phony - he was living what he liked and what he liked killed him.
There's too much on here - but a lot of this I've never heard before - and it all runs deep and interconnects and he wrote/performed one of the greatest songs ever, period ("Ain't It Fun")........ and his version more than The Dead Boys or any other cover is scary as hell especially when you hear it in this broad context of his work.
Comes with a book/bio too....

the Jersey Shore..... I'm deep enraptured. It usually isn't one of the places that you see much in movies... movies in general like to romanticize New York, Long Island, and L.A., but the Jersey Shore is one of the more low profile gems in this country and I'm absolutely gonna live there. I'm moving there earliest May, latest September.
the Powerpuff girls..... one of my favorite shows as a kid. I'm gonna rewatch the classic series and start watching the new series. I'm glad they brought it back... it was one of Cartoon Network's finest shows.
Only other stuff I watch regularly are Jeopardy, The Bachelor, sports, and 90 Day Fiance. I'm a boring person and I'm sick of the new hype toys on TV and movies.

There are some lively boardwalk spots and Asbury Park can be fun, but the actual beach is overrated and they make you pay to use it. Real estate is expensive too. Compared to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, or the various Florida beaches, or the outer banks of NC, I don't recommend the Jersey shore. It would be completely dead were it not for the proximity to NYC.

Music: Left of The Dial : Dispatches From The 80s Underground - Meticulous Rhino box-set - if you just look-up (And then Youtube) the tracklist you automatically get better musical taste and accurate historical context too. Film : Re-working my way through Bergman, Polanski, other masterpieces - why the FNCK are people watching Contagion and stuff like that - I have that in real life thanx ..... Book: David Goodis: Black Friday: And Selected Stories - I never actually finished all of this book besides Black Friday and what I did finish was worth a revisit......see what a little staying at home can do for you..... TV: Dick Cavett interviews or even clips on Youtube has become an addiction problem - Frazier and Ali for one, you see things on this show that you think should be a movie like Jim Brown and Lester Maddox etc. Food: Delivery from local Italian place for dinner the last 3 days, weirdly they also suddenly have steak fries now .........um.......delivery guy also is wearing gloves the last 2 days .....I'll take a stromboli and a side of gnawing dread.

Catching up on 70's and 80's films. Listening more to techno than any other music genre lately. The weather that is finally getting better. And working out again.

Movies: Massacre at Central High (1976) which is a kind of classic of its kind (sort of) and I hadn't seen seen in a long time and may post a review on it.....and its making me want to re-watch some other similar stuff from the era. Over The Edge for one....

Music: Bob Dylan's Murder Most Foul & I Contain Multitudes ("You greedy old wolf, I’ll show you my heart But not all of it, only the hateful part")
Book: Apropos of Nothing where Woody mentions many references and figures I'm now looking up (he calls Mort Sahl the Brando of Comedy)
TV: The Sopranos which I finished and kinda miss. Been reading thru SopranosAutopsy website which has a lot of great insight into each ep and what-do-you-know after reading every one I found out the writer's favorite film is McCabe & Mrs Miller - !
Food: Ordering rice balls from every Italian restaurant in my general vicinity
Random: this was a short-lived obsession from a few weeks ago, but reading the horse racetrack recaps in the morning paper... really concise, descriptive writing!
