I'm in the midst of catching up on season one. Really digging it so far, probably the most fun I've had with a show since Stranger Things.

Goddamn, boys and girls -- it's back and with a vengeance. David Lynch may be blowing our minds over on Showtime, but Catlin and the Gang are playing one hell of a B-side over on AMC.

The premiere was excellent, but the second episode was a real gem. Tom Brooke deserves a Guest Actor nod for one of the most heartwrenching portrayals of a lost soul I've seen in a long time.

Off to a great start. I love how this season is stylistically more similar to Breaking Bad than the first; that Cassidy and Fiore hotel scene felt like an extreme Vegas version of the Jesse/Badger/Skinny Pete 's drug binge scenes. These first two episodes were a ton of fun overall. Fiore's final episode arc in particular was heartbreaking to watch. My one criticism is that I do hope we get more characterization of The Cowboy aside from what was already given in the first season; I just fear that he may turn into a one-dimensional cartoonish villain. Otherwise, I'm loving it so far.

That fight scene with Viktor's henchman was nice. Another great episode all around. The scene with the talent agent was fucking hilarious ("Even Dinklage flies business."). I'm even enjoying the Hell stuff so far; can't wait to see the tail end of Hitler's worst memory.

Best episode of the season by my reckoning. The direction was excellent. Props to Noah Taylor for making the most vile man in modern history actually sympathetic. And I will always approve of Paul Ben-Victor being cast in anything. The one-take fight sequence set to “Uptown Girl” was magnificent; that ought to earn it an Emmy nod on its own.

It was interesting to see Noah Taylor play Hitler again. Kinda feel bad he gets typecast...?

A great mid-season climax this week that was incredibly tense almost from beginning to end. This featured some truly fascinating development for Jesse, who is unquestionably in over his head at this point (Genesis is just insanely OP now) and has literally sacrificed part of his soul for the sake of strengthening himself. Great stuff and I can't wait for what they offer up in the second half.

Been loving this new season. I was hesitant about leaving Annville but so far I think season 2 has been even better than the first (though I do sometimes still miss some of season 1's characters). This show is so much fun to watch. Nothing else like it on TV. The action scenes are amazing, the characters are colorful and interesting in their own ways. I really wish this show had a bigger audience.

Negga is slightly less amazing than she was last season, partly cause I think some of her material has been on the weaker side of things, but Gilgun is more than making up for it. Probably my favorite character on TV right now, I just love him.
Definitely a stronger season overall than the first so far. It really benefits from the focus of just following the main three and the related fringe, lets it all be more a lot more cohesive not just narratively but tonally.

I'll agree Tulip has been getting some of the weaker material this season, but Negga has been crushing it week to week. But yeah, Gilgun's been kicking so much ass. The Denis stuff is building up to something truly heartbreaking, I can tell. And yes, I agree with all of your second paragraph.

I think I just loved fiery Tulip so much that her new role as kind of the downer of the group has been a disappointing turn. It's justified narratively for the most part, but it's just less fun. Yeah, I think the Denis stuff is gonna get real good. The "reveal" (if it was even supposed to be) got pretty obvious like 2 episodes before it finally dropped, but everything in that whole storyline has been so effective so far regardless. Also I think it perfectly exemplifies this shows approach to narrative problem solving that their way to fix the communication gap was to just throw in a random drunk French professor eavesdropping at the bar. It would feel stupid in any other show but for some reason I just liked it instead.

Pip Torrens is pitch-perfect. Yep. I don't see myself liking Herr Starr as much as I do the Saint of Killers, but Torrens nailed the introduction for the character. The montage of all the trials he had to go through was hilarious.

That season finale was frustrating, the Denis sub-plot was annoying. Why did Genesis not work against The Saint of Killers in that fighting scene though? He said he was not hearing what Preacher was saying..But I don't know, it felt weird. Anyway, this is a fucking awesome kinda B-Movie TV Show, clearly overlooked by many people. Pip Torrens was perfect casting, all the actors actually

Pip Torrens was perfect casting, all the actors actually I believe Genesis only works on someone with a soul (or touched with God's light), which the Saint didn't have prior to getting a piece of Jesse's. He's susceptible now. I love the way the Denis subplot ended, but I was hoping that Cassidy would find a body or something in Denis's room that would make him feel much more viscerally sickened by what he'd done. I know the implication is that Cass knew what Denis had done/was capable of doing, but still. Gilgun absolutely sold that scene, though. Pip Torrens was the season MVP by a mile, though (sorry, Ruth/Joe). I never thought they'd get Herr Starr 100% from the comics, but they actually one-upped Ennis's character and made him much richer.
