I came across this photo of a young Dolly Parton:
and realised the young Dolly is almost a dead ringer for Yvonne Strahovski ( The Handmaids Tale) who is also a very good actress. She feels like an ideal candidate for a Dolly Parton biopic because they look so much alike, and she can act.
Any other actors/actresses you think should play someone based on physical resemblance ( or some other quality or characteristic)?

I've wanted Rooney Mara to play Audrey Hepburn ever since I saw her in Carol. She looked so much like her in certain shots I couldn't believe it. Someone needs to rescue that biopic from development hell, was so excited when it was announced.

I always used to think Natalie Portman, especially when she was younger, looked very similar to Audrey Hepburn and might have played her in a biopic.

On the topic of Rooney Mara, I'd much rather see her play Falconetti:

Scarlett Johansson should play Diane ArbusThis is tough because there's been an Arbus movie - an awful one - with Kidman and RDJ that fictionalizes huge chunks of her life and Arbus didn't look like a movie star .........but with short hair and de-glammed ScarJo could do it an she's interested in photography big time - I mean Kidman didn't look anything at all like Diane Arbus and the RDJ character didn't exist iirc

I've seen that suggestion before and despite being a big Portman fan I don't quite get it because I don't think they really look that much alike outside of fitting the "classy brunette" archetype. Mara's facial structure looks so much like her, she usually looks so alt-y in her contemporary stuff that I didn't notice it until she was made up for Carol.

I guess my slight issue with Mara is less to do with looks, than with demeanour. There's a very moody, sullen quality to her that is the opposite of what Audrey Hepburn projected. Like, it seems an effort for Mara to smile, where Hepburn never looked glum. I know it's "acting" and all that, so Mara might be able to pull it off, but Portman just seems a more natural fit personality wise ( and while they aren't twins, the resemblance is good enough for biopic purposes). Portman seems like a similar easy going people pleaser personality like Hepburn. To me anyway.

Mathieu Amalric should play Roman Polanski I've always thought there's potential for a fascinating story - with his early years and the Holocaust, his rise in Hollywood, the uh...fugitive phase...but I don't know if anyone would be daring or skilled enough to handle this subject - and can't even imagine the online discourse

Jeremy Allen White as Gene Wilder Yeah, he looks so much like him. I would add Andrew Garfield as Anthony Perkins andthe girl from White Lotus season one could play Maria Shiver.

Leonardo DiCaprio as Theodore Roosevelt. Come on Scorsese, do it already! What are you waiting for?? They look nothing alike and there's absolutely nothing in DiCaprio's bearing as an actor that would lead me to think he'd be a good choice for TR.

Ben Affleck as Ulysses S. Grant Jared Harris gave us the definitive cinematic turn as Grant (and should've gotten a follow-up biopic by Spielberg), and Affleck's a good foot taller than the real man was, but I am intrigued by the idea of Affleck playing Grant, as there are certain parallels in their reputations and historical reappraisals of their respective careers. I'm into this.

Arbus was the antithesis of glamour! That movie was such a mess and wrong on so many levels.

I'm into this. I remember watching this video a while back about some of each president’s shortcomings and when it got to Grant his issue was the people he hired around him. While Grant may (or may not) have had good intentions at heart, most of the people in his administration certainly did not and would repeatedly undermine him, only interested in exploiting their position to enrich themselves. These betrayals really hurt Grant personally, and when I saw his portrait in the video I was watching while hearing about this stuff (and his legendary boozing) that’s when it hit me. I saw the sad, despondent look on that bearded man’s face and thought “that’s Ben Affleck”
