Outside of all the silent films I've been watching, I just saw The Wizard of Oz on the big screen a few days ago and that was cool. Haven't seen it since I was probably 8.

Last week I saw Lolita (1962) and Butterfield 8 for the first time. Love James Mason and Liz Taylor. Interesting to see Liz act opposite then hubby Eddie Fisher.

I saw Doctor Zhivago last week for the first time. Quite darker and stranger than I thought it'd be.

What's up Doc! (1972). Just saw it for the First time. Damn, what an intelligent and charming romcom! Greatly structured with solid script. Love that Love story joke at the end 9/10.

Freaky Friday (1976). So much fun and hilarious, Barbara Harris is insanely great! So much better than Curtis. Entertaining and not too much lecturing like the remake, which is good..ah most 70s films are great!
It's really weird to see foster was so young (she looks like 10 years old kid) while in Taxi Driver which was released in the same year with the movie she looks like a grown-up woman! A Very bold and brilliant choice of roles she took, amazing!

Finally sat down and watched The Searchers. While parts of it are really dated, overall it's a really engaging, fun, bold film that had my eyes glued to the screen the whole time. Ready to explore more Ford. 8.5

The Badlanders - western remake of The Asphalt Jungle with Alan Ladd and Ernest Borgnine... liked it more than The Asphalt Jungle tbh. Great characters, action, heist scene, and an excellent Borgnine performance. 8/10

Camille - What a great Romance! Superbly acted by the most beautiful woman in cinema. I wonder why Garbo didn't win Oscar for in this film? 8.5/10

Violent Saturday (1955) - dammmmmmn great stuff. Noir mixed with melodrama leading to surprisingly great results and an excellent cast to boot. A few hilarious lines too, and one scene that any fan of Lee Marvin/Ernest Borgnine will love. strong 8.5/10

I'm working on 1940's Our Town at the second, but the last in whole was the brilliant 1970 bittersweet comic western The Ballad of Cable Hogue.

City Lights. First Chaplin. Honestly, the praise for his physical comedy did not do it justice in my eyes. This is clearly the work of a comedic master and a genius in filmmaking. This movie had me consistently laughing more than anything I've watched in a really long time. The story is simple yet moving; considering the way the film depicts economic hardships yet with a generally optimistic, humorous tone, this film must have been essential for the audience of the time period in which it was released.

Kiss of Death - holy shiiiiiiiit, Widmark with one of the best debut performances ever. Solid noir overall..... nothing too memorable outside of Widmark's performance.
