No but seriously...what did Ferrera do in Barbie besides give a lecture? Kate freakin' McKinnon did more. So did Rhea Perlman and Ariana Greenblatt. I usually really like Ferrera but I thought she was pretty miscast in this movie, and the delivery of that monologue was actually kinda bad.

I genuinely cannot believe America Ferrera was nominated and Margot Robbie wasn't. I really do think that it came down to actors not thinking the role of Barbie was challenging, especially considering she was up against a respected winless veteran playing a real-life liar sports figure. I did change my mind on it when Robbie got into BAFTA, but I think we can chalk that up to BAFTA just really, really liking Margot Robbie. It's like SAG with Viola Davis.

Gerwig snubbed, the thinkpieces will be endless “Who directed it? The DAHLS?”

Another statistic broken: this is the first time in forever the Production Design and the Costume Design categories are 5/5. It's because of this statistic I dropped Napoleon from my PD predictions. Stupid

Do you think Greta (& Baumbach) have a better chance at winning Screenplay due to her miss in Director?

What a difference a couple of weeks makes I know you are always chasing me around like you chase women as a good simp but the Adapted screenplay snub jinxed any chances for KOFM. I don't know why you took this personal. I loved the movie and didn't mind if it won, I just didn't buy Nolan finally winning BP The fuck

Many people did predict that Robbie would receive fewer #1 votes than Stone, Gladstone, Hüller and Mulligan. I just thought Greta Lee would be the one to usurp her if anyone, but I expected too much from Academy members.

Do you think Greta (& Baumbach) have a better chance at winning Screenplay due to her miss in Director? I honestly have no idea what to do with that category. But I guess gun to my head, I say they just default to Oppy.

Napoleon surprised with 3 noms.
The Creator got 2.

Do you think Greta (& Baumbach) have a better chance at winning Screenplay due to her miss in Director? Either Oppy or American Fiction will be taking adapted screenplay.

Do you think Greta (& Baumbach) have a better chance at winning Screenplay due to her miss in Director? I mean, they were already pretty much set to win whichever category they were running in, especially as Nolan was going to take Director. It just depends on how much the Academy goes gaga for Oppenheimer, because last year shows that if they like a film, they might say fuck spreading the love.

So those of you so bullish on Gerwig being a lock, please accept that the race is never that predictable. those of you=Elmius Omg, I'm sooo ashamed! Phhft, as if! 🤷♂️ I predicted what looked like a lock on paper that ended up being a shocking snub. They happen sometimes. I still feel 100% justified in thinking it seemed like a lock, so I'm not the least bit sorry in being so "bullish" about it. Plenty of people were acting just as "bullish" about Payne in the last few weeks, so guess they have egg on their face too. But I correctly predicted Ferrera, whom everyone thought was DOA after SAG/BAFTA. And I called the KoTFM song getting in! Also, Triet/AoaF > Gerwig/Barbie, so no pain at all at being wrong there. KoTFM being ROBBED in Actor and especially A. Screenplay is definitely infuriating & ridiculous, though.

Happy for Bening and Huller, even though I haven't seen their films. Killers of the Flower Moon missing screenplay definitely hurts his chances of winning Director and Picture. Anatomy of a Fall missing international film (still confused about that) means The Zone of Interest is winning.

Anatomy of a Fall got picture, director, actress, screenplay, editing noms. Can we consider it 3rd in line for Best Picture Oscar?

Now I need to understand why. France has really been dropping the ball with its entry choices in the last few years.
