Sorry, somehow I missed your original message! Of your favorites, I've been to FL, ME, MA, NY, NC, NV, and VA. I like all of them except for Florida (obvi).

I really like Florida, despite its poor leadership. I've always hated it. It's hotter than the center of the sun and has some of the rudest people I've ever encountered.

I've always hated it. It's hotter than the center of the sun and has some of the rudest people I've ever encountered. There are four types of states: (1) Great to visit, but poor to live in (2) Great to live, poor to visit, (3) Both great to live and visit, and (4) Poor to live and visit.
Not many states fall under #4. Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Mississippi may have nice food and people, but pretty much ranked toward the bottom in all the relevant categories - health-care, infrastructure, tourism, poverty, education, crime etc.
Florida to me is a #1. It's a getaway state. You want to go enjoy the beach, the ocean, the warm weather, the attractions, Florida is a good place to go. I went to Florida for the first-time since childhood for my brother's wedding in Tampa, and it was an amazing trip. That's why I have it on there. Florida on the other hand, is a terrible state to live there year round. In the summer time, it is too hot. You have to worry about hurricanes and floods. On top of that, Florida is over populated and has high cost of living. As a Northeastern, it is nice to go to somewhere warm during the winter -- for just a week or two.
New York state to me is a #3. I am biased, but the facts speak for itself. Great weather for 2/3rds of the year. Upstate New York has high property taxes, but excellent education system, excellent medical system, low cost of living, affordable housing, major art scene, and tons of tourism attractions. My area is the home of Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglas, Women's Right convention, Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes. If you go 3 hours to down state, you have New York City, which is totally amazing to visit. Besides snow, we don't have to worry about hurricanes, earthquakes or floods.
Have you ever been to Michigan before? That's a massively undervalued state. I highly recommend it. Obviously you got Detroit, known for its art/cultural scene and crime (unfortunately), but you also have the Upper Peninsula (U.P), which is one gigantic national park.

I haven't, but I would like to! Michigan and Oregon are next on my list of states to visit for the first time.

I haven't, but I would like to! Michigan and Oregon are next on my list of states to visit for the first time. For Michigan, I suggest you go to the Henry Ford Museum, Mackinac Island, and go across Mackinac Bridge. Next time I go to Michian, I am going to Detroit and visit more car museums. I hear great things about their art scene.
Being a movie lover and all, I absolutely love to learn and experience art.
Hope you have a great rest of your day Tyler! Really good topic.
