My favourite thing about film is when it does something that a book couldn't do however that happens - whether it is something in how a film uses images to convey something, whether it is how the music combines with the action in some absolutely perfect way, or if it is how some actor or actress conveys something which you understand but which couldn't be put into words (at least not so powerfully) in a book.

When Joel heads to Montauk at the beginning of Eternal Sunshine and goes up to the house, you can hear Clem going "David and Ruth Laskin" faintly in the wind .
