How many trash scripts can you pick up before you're just trash period? Feed that visual filmmaker bullshit to the birds. De Palma's sense of humor is all he has. Spielberg can do literally everything De Palma can do technically, and more. De Palma is a talented bitter underachiever who never figured out that he couldn't write worth shit. Well, you know, Spielberg was the brilliant student who studies really hard and wants everyone to know how brilliant he is and needs you to tell him that, he's in bed by 9:00 after a glass of warm milk..........De Palma doesn't study for the test, might ace it, might flunk it, might be hungover for it, wants you to tell him he's brilliant AND also tell him he's sick AND that he needs therapy as long as you're talking about him then it's all good ............... and laughs that he pissed you off and fantasizes about murdering that therapist and also hasn't slept for days because he wonders how exactly the knife will pierce the therapist's flesh and what is the best bleach is for removing blood and he heard somewhere that mixing it with baking soda was a cool trick to try and............ Its not really an issue of sense of humor as much as it is De Palma's sensibility and its that attribute which allowed him to make films that were great/good/bad - and that Spielberg really couldn't make ..........but also ones he wouldn't want to make anyway. I don't necessarily agree 100% with your take on De Palma, but you're spot-on about Spielberg. He's by far the most boring filmmaker working today, even his good movies fail to excite me and it's mind-blowing that some people put him on the same level as Coppola, Scorsese and Kubrick.

Great that it's getting released, but Saban Films is the worst distributor - in that, they drop their crap on demand and call it a day, and almost all of their 50 titles so far are bottom of the barrel stuff. But....still hoping this is a return to form for De Palma.... who's supposed to be filming a new movie this year, if not that Sweet Vengeance one (seems to have missed its proposed start date) then probably the Predator one that he wants to shoot during TIFF in the fall.

Why all that hate about Spielberg?? I mean, I don't think he's equal to Coppola or Scorsese but he's close enough. The guy (has proven that he) can do almost anyhting. Every single genre: Sci-fi, family movies, blockbuster adventures, horror, period films, war movies, biographies...
I have really enjoyed many of his films. Maybe he goes "by the book" in so many things (in film making or otherwise) but I think he has left his mark as a great auteur all these years.

Hard to judge from the trailer. I get more of a Winding Refn vibe from it though than De Palma.

I don't like that trailer at all. Feels like a straight-to-VOD project from 2008.

Very devastating that De Palma had this taken away from him. The elements for something good are there but I'm sure the studio has made an utter hackjob out of it.
