My anxiety/OCD/depression etc etc seem to be getting pretty bad (worse than the usual bad - makes watching a movie/reading a book ridiculously difficult too ). Thinking of getting back on some medication but also had a question for anyone here who may have had some similar experiences: Other than medication/therapy (have tried both multiple times with underwhelming results) is there any particular practice that has helped you guys? (I've heard working out/exercising helps which, to be honest I haven't done enough due to lack of time/motivation, though I've started to go on some walks lately)

People respond best to routines and habit so that's the goal in a way.......regular walks is a great start ...........any physical activity.....weightlifting, walks, bike riding etc

The Japanese practice of "forest bathing" combines both. I hope things get better really soon for you.

Doing some acceptance and mindfulness work would be beneficial, you can find some things online or seek out a therapist who specializes in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). I know you've done therapy before and I don't want to presume what made it underwhelming, but if it was a matter of fit or technique then I think giving DBT a shot could be worthwhile.

I've seen people following schedules like that get done and improve their state of mind, and yes, working out can help as well, even if it's just 15 minutes for start.

I can only echo what everyone else has already said. But in particular getting out in nature, and any form of exercise, I think can be a massive help. Hang in there brother

A dog stands by your side without judging, and helps a lot in socializing with other people.

Thanks a lot everyone, appreciate it pacinoyes TylerDeneuve cherry68 mhynson27 avnermoriarti mikediastavrone96 It's been quite bad tbh so I've started getting back on medication again; also trying to go on brief walks, trying to journal (though given the current trajectory hope it doesn't move towards 'Notes From Underground' territory and wish to get back to doing some proper writing too...I'll also look up the other stuff you guys mentioned like DBT and Forest Bathing. Also sharing a little personal, therapeutic film I had made a few years ago (with my crappy phone camera, over several years) partly based on similar struggles (think pacinoyes had seen a version once) Thanks again!

First family Disney vacay in the books. Long ass days and a shit ton of money, but great time for all overall. Hope my kids retain magical memories at least.

I have deleted the thread on Lupita Nyong'o as I found it uncalled for in its context as a provocation. I will not tolerate posts in bad faith meant to target other posters, especially as it seems like this board has become overly preoccupied with such passive-aggressive behavior.
Keep threads on topic, block users whom you do not get along with, and report or otherwise notify me or the other moderators of any behaviors that need attention.
We are trying to maintain a civil board here. Be a part of that, or don't.

about to replace my $350 Acer laptop from 2017 that's been working like a charm since I replaced the HDD with a sexy 1TB SSD in 2019. This was a crappy budget laptop even in 2017 so I'm shocked it lasted this long, and I've played hundreds of hours of Sims and AoE II (both HD and the much more graphically intense DE) with no overheating or throttling, nothing. It's amazing. but I just broke the shift key which I can't live without so it's finally time to move on.
