Pacino.- Also Helen Mirren, if the sexes are changed.- Former - and future (this year!) co-stars - they are dynamite together - or were in Phil Spector (2013) anyway........now Phil Spector was a Shakesperean character if I ever saw one............. Mirren has famously talked about this A LOT - because she's an absolute legend and bad-ass .............and of course Glenda Jackson played Lear to acclaim in London that was then "re-staged" to a less enthusiastic Broadway run the next season. “There isn’t a King Lear for women, or a Henry V, or a Richard III. You reach a level where you can handle that stuff technically and mentally, and it’s not there.”Here she is with Alan Rickman in Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida quotefancy.com/quote/1328640/Helen-Mirren-There-isn-t-a-King-Lear-for-women-or-a-Henry-V-or-a-Richard-III-You-reach-a

Assuming the Pacino GOAT version actually happens and is "the next (?) Lear"- I said it before - it may not, announced or not - he was like 2 days away from playing Born on thev 4th of July in 1978 for ffs.......I'd say the question is who should play THe Fool...... The rumors are it will be James Franco, Shia or Depp.......but I think that's because they were mentioned once.........is this production going to be all American? Mostly American? Rylance obviously would be the best Fool (and Lear tbh ) and the best Iago.......but I doubt Pacino or Washington wants him anywhere near anything they will ever do in Shakespeare because he'll sreal it...... Who could play The Fool opposite the GOAT - THAT'S now the question.........how about Kline as The Fool? Kline may win th Triple Crown in the next year or so........he has THREE Tony's - has played Lear of course.......Ryan Gosling would be a great Fool - but I doubt this version can afford him anyway .........and a lot of this will be filled with Pacino's friends or people he knows...... Robin Williams would have fit that at one time ........ Sean Penn would be like "casting the Fool against type" and could work.......... Cage or Dafoe would be fncking awesome obviously
