so weāre getting spoiled with crawford vs spence tomorrow. who do you all have? i have to go with the majority and say crawford wins this, round 10 TKO iāll say.
i see good arguments for spence too. one being that crawford wonāt be able to ādownload the dataā early on in the fight like heās been used to with the pace and volume of punches spence will put on him, such as not being able to clinch spence as easily as he did against his other opponents. crawford may need to land an early counter punch that hurts spence and thus slows down spences aggression (much like what we seen in garcia vs davis, although the fighters in this match are much closer talent and skill wise than that matchup). itās as even of a fight as weāve had at this kind of magnitude for a looong time.

Masterclass by Crawford. I actually thought Spence might be too big but Crawford is the best fighter in the world after that fight.

what a masterful performance by crawford. i didnāt think the fight was going to be that one sided. made spence look like an amateur.
i gave spence one round (the first) and thatās only because he was putting spence on the back foot and being the aggressor. after that, it was all crawford starting from the knockdown in the second round.

LETS FUCKING GO

so that was an embarrassment for the sport of boxing last night.
the guy whose considered the best HW of this generation got taken to a split decision against an MMA guy (albeit world champion) who hasnāt had a fight in over 2 years (37 years if you count the ring). thatās not to diminish ngannou either. the guy was gifted with dynamite power and has a granite chin. his technique excelled anything I thought he was capable of too, especially with how long heās trained. but man, fury just looked fucking clumsy out there. iām not sure if it was due to a lack of training and preparation (he said this would be like djokovic going up against a table tennis champion in tennis after all) or if furys body is now starting to fail him due to his lifestyle of not taking care of it. weighing 400 pounds and jogging up hills will inevitably take a toll on your joints and fury has only been fighting flat footed and slow fighters for the past 5 years. combine that with the new kronk style heās adopted that could be hiding his diminishing athleticism that weāre accustomed to.
ngannou having the strength to not be overpowered in the clinch was also a big factor in this fight. itās one of furys strongest attributes and one of the big reasons why he won the wilder trilogy. iād love to see ngannou keep taking boxing fights. i know heās 37, but with more training, who knows what heās capable of for these next couple of years. i canāt say that any HW definitively beats him, although thereās obviously matchups where i wonāt favour him either.

It was embarrassing and Fury's ego has been so out of control recently that he needed to be brought back down to earth. I do think he will prepare much better for Usyk and I still think he wins that fight, but I'm still rooting for Usyk. I feel like Fury needs to be the underdog to be motivated.

so fury vs usyk is now pushed to feb 17 since the fight with ngannou didnāt go as planned.. BUT
this new dec 23 card looks awesome imo
joshua vs wallin wilder vs parker dubois vs miller sanchez vs junior hrgovic vs di moriĀ bivol vs lyndon arthurĀ opetaia vs zorro makhmudov vs kabayel
of course, weād love to see joshua vs wilder. also the opetaia and bivol fights will likely be more one sided (hrgovic too) wish we could see opetaia vs briedis 2 and bivol vs beterbiev. i understand though since briedis is still nursing injuries and bivol will likely want a tune up fight after being out of the ring for awhile (if he ever fights beterbiev). beterbiev isnāt getting any younger either and hasnāt fought for almost a year. i wouldnāt be surprised *IF* joshua and wilder both win their fights we get an announcement that theyāll fight in the end of riyadh season. parker and wallin are solid opponents and are both improvements over helenius and franklin. i think joshua will be in for a tougher night though. wallin is like a poor mans usyk and i give him a decent chance to win. maybe like 30-35%, especially with how joshua has looked his past couple of fights.Ā
then not long after that we get to see inoue go for the undisputed super bantamweight. even though itās shitty the undisputed HW clash was pushed back a couple of months, i canāt complain with what were getting to end the year. thatās a solid main card and great undercard. i assume joshua will get the last fight since heās the most marketable out of the fighters.

Awesome card. Definitely hyped. I think Wilder should get through Parker pretty comfortably but Wallin might give AJ a few problems. The press conference today was only lively when Miller spoke. I'm still predicting Fury to beat Usyk but I'm rooting for Usyk to put the Fury era in the rear view.

Great card last night. Pretty shocked Wilder lost but he was terrible. At this point in his career to not have a decent jab is unacceptable and he was fighting Parker like Parker was the bigger man. Just awful. He should have been the one who was walking Parker down. His corner had no sense of urgency in the last round, way too calm and a bunch of yes men.
Really good performance by AJ. He looked more fluid and confident.

yeah that was a great card. main downside was that most of the fights werenāt competitive, but to have that amount of big names on a card is still *chefs kiss*
hrgovic needs to find an actual opponent for his next fight. that demori matchup was just embarrassing. hrgovic saw more of the back of his head than his face ffs. now that joshua is fighting ngannou, i wonder who heāll go up against next or if heāll wait for joshua (if joshua wins).
junior fa looks like he had a 2 week training camp before the sanchez fight. fight was quite boring for the first few rounds but then sanchez picked up the pace and had a nice finish. thatās another guy that iād like to see getting more of these high profile fights. dubois and him would be a fun matchup.
for mahkmudov and kabayel, iāve only watched 1-2 of their fights before this. man did kabayel ever make mahkmudov look like a plodder haha. what a great performance by him. love how he stuck to the stomach.
opetaia made easy work with zorro and showed what a dog he is. that punch power is just so devastating. iām happy weāre getting the briedis fight next. i think opetaia wins that one via a late round stoppage. briedis hasnāt fought for almost two years (since their last fight) and heās 39 now. i wonder how long his training camp will have been because the fight was announced like 5 weeks before their fight. i wonder if saudi just threw a bag at breidis and opetaia to pump up that usyk v fury undercard lol. i think opetaia is on his own tier for the cruiserweight division. i know thereās talks of him moving up to HW sooner rather than later but iād like to see a unification of belts before then.
what an awesome comeback for dubois. i thought miller was going to walk down dubois starting in round 5-6 leading to a late stoppage, and while it looked like that was going to happen for a couple rounds there, dubois not only found a second wind and dominated the last leg of the fight, but is the first boxer to stop miller and even went out of his way to stop him when he could have just coasted to a unanimous decision. idk how many of the 936292 substances miller was on that we can attribute to how he has looked in his past performances, but this is a nice W for dubois especially after all the āquitterā allegations that were coming his way. heās still a young boxer and has took one some tough early fights, weāll see him back in fights for the belts. this was the perfect outcome to boost his confidence going forward.
bivol put on a boxing masterclass against arthur. although i would have liked to see him get a stoppage and it did look like he was going for it in some of the moments. bivol vs beterbiev is next and i canāt fucking wait. about time. this is one of the best fights in boxing that you can make and is truly a 50/50 fight. weāre in for a treat for when the bell rings. apparently āhis excellencyā is planning for opetaia to be the next opponent for the winner of this fight.
what a performance by parker. controlled the center of the ring the entire fight and was aggressive when he needed to be to win the big moments of the rounds. just a masterclass. iām enjoying the renaissance his career is having, especially considering heās only 32 lol. his next fight is going to be big bang zhelli zhang and while i give zhang the edge in that fight, i can totally see how parker could win. right now itās like 55/45 for me. not to do some armchair psychology, but i think wilders fighting days are over. i honestly donāt think he really has that competitive edge anymore. heās been taking ayahuasca and making afrobeats and just recently cried on a reality tv show for wrongly evicting another contestant (due to past childhood traumas). it seems like heās in a better place mentally and heās more content in life, he handled the loss to parker a lot better than he did with fury, but again, i donāt think that ākiller instinctā he had where he wanted to punch the other dudes head off is there anymore, and that along with his right hand that should be considered a fucking illegal weapon at this point were his best attributes. i donāt know if heāll retire, but i think his days of being a contender are over. this is why boxing can be such a shitty sport. we were finally going to see AJ v wilder happen next but as what often happens with boxing, these big fights are made too late.
AJ with his most impressive win since maybe pre ruiz. i was questioning his decision to work with ben davidson and while i still have qualms, if this is the type of AJ weāll get moving forward, AJ is going to be a main contender to gain those belts again. just picked wallin apart for that early stoppage. heās going against ngannou next and while i think AJ wins that fight pretty handily, especially now that thereās tape of ngannou, i wrote of ngannou before so i donāt want to do it again lol. his head is like a fucking brick and even though punching in mma and boxing is different, the power does seem to be there. while saying that, AJ SHOULD be the comfortable favorite.
i see a world where usyk beats AJ, fury beats usyk, and AJ beats fury. if fury does indeed beat usyk (i hope it doesnāt happen but i do give him the slight edge), i hope fury doesnāt retire or relinquish the belts. i think saudi will give him a massive bag, bigger than either of the ngannou or usyk bags to fight AJ, and we know how much of a greedy belly fury is. so if both guys win their next fights, iād love to see that fight FINALLY happen. i donāt want to talk too much about āifsā though so weāll wait and see what happens in the next few months.
anyways, great card and made for a great time pre christmas eve. hope we get to see more of these kind of cards moving forward.

He's basically waiting for Usyk to age himself out and to get potentially beaten or softened up for him to feel he can win. Usyk is the most mentally strong fighter he will face and his antics haven't worked on him mentally like they do everyone else and that scares Fury because he can't figure him out.

what a knockout by AJ haha
made ngannou look like a dude thatās just had one prior pro fight š
was hoping that BIG BANG ZHELLI ZHANG would put parker away. other than the first couple of rounds and the two knockdown rounds, parker pretty much won every other second of the fight. will be interesting to see where this renaissance of his takes him.

zhang v wilder & hrgovic v dubois have been announced/are being finalized for the bivol v beterbiev card
what a card thatāll be. my early predictions are:
zhang via KO in the 6th/7th hrgovic via TKO in the 10th beterbiev via majority decision (hot take)
i wouldnāt be too surprised if all fights went the other way. bivol vs beterbiev is the true 50/50 fight tho. i could wake up tomorrow morning and have bivol winning via decision. i know bivol is the āmaster technicianā out of the two and if it were to come down to a decision, his style is more likely to win, but i think beterbiev drops him a couple of times which is enough to sway the cards. wouldnāt be surprised by a late round stoppage win either. only surprising outcome would be if bivol stopped beterbiev.
