That In Memoriam was terribly executed. Felt disrespectful to the deceased to frame them on a small background screen so you can showcase the performers.

OMG, Colman beat Corrin. True fucking Queen shit. Since most people don't watch these shows anyway, name recognition usually makes the difference. I mean Corrin beat Colman at both SAG and the Globes.

Mare of Easttown loses Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series to The Queen's Gambit... Was this surprising?

Not in the Emmys, which is known for repeat winners more than these other two. Mare of Easttown loses Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series to The Queen's Gambit... Was this surprising? Considering how the night went, yeah.

Mare of Easttown loses Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series to The Queen's Gambit... Was this surprising? I wouldn't say surprising, no. It was a close race between the two shows. While Mare had its 3 acting wins, Gambit did win Directing and a shit ton of the technical awards last week. Either one would have made sense as the winner. Wish it was Mare though

Corrin losing to Colman means they didn't watch it.

Corrin losing to Colman means they didn't watch it. And then we have Claire Foy winning for reading a script aloud for two minutes (if that) in a flashback scene no one should have remembered even if they watched the episode a thousand times.

I was hoping for an Anya win but Winslet is worthy winner too. They got wrong with the The Crown though. Emma Corrin deserved it more than Colman.

Too many sweeps lately, I get that we're experiencing Peak TV but three, four shows winning all the awards doesn't make sense.

Honestly, Colman deserved that one. Queen Liz is an incredibly difficult role to pull off (and I actually don't think she entirely did in season 3) but Colman created an imposing and slightly unnerving character out of the occasionally uneven writing she had to work with. Corrin took a long time to fully convince me, though I eventually came round to her by the end.
I loved Menzies on the show, and granted I haven't seen Michael K. Williams' performance, but it's still such a shame he couldn't get this recognition. He didn't need it, it has been made abundantly and heartwarmingly clear how respected and beloved he was, but it still would have made for a lovely tribute to an incredible actor.
Also so glad I May Destroy You got that writing win. Strong contender for best show of the last few years, Coel is a genius.

From the actresses who won the major Acting awards last night - Gillian Anderson, Olivia Colman, Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart, Hannah Waddingham, Kate Winslet... Winslet is the youngest at 45. I think that's incredibly significant. Television is giving us excellent, nuanced roles for women over 40.
