Will post the same thing I said elsewhere: haven't seen Get Out but good horror directing lends itself well to good action directing so this isn't as surprising to me as it probably is to others.

That's a hell of a get for Peele.

It's also possible they want him to direct The Flash

As nice as it is seeing indie directors getting big opertunities, I am a bit tired of having exciting indie filmmakers wasting their time on mostly mediocre and soulless blockbusters.

Well, he's certainly an interesting out of the box choice, I don't think the film's getting made, though.

I remember way back when the Hughes bros were attached to direct I think even Spielberg was interested in directing it at one point. That's how long it's been in development.

Peele would certainly be an inspired choice, but I just don't think they're going to pull the trigger on this project altogether. And frankly, I don't want an Akira movie unless Warner Bros. commits to giving it a James-Cameron-sized budget and allowing it to be both ultra-violent and completely authentic to its Japanese context. So basically, I will never want whatever version of Akira that Warner Bros. would ever green light.

That is insanely interesting. It's too bad this couldln't have been made years ago when Joseph Gordon-Levitt was signed on to star in it. What a missed opportunity there.

It's been in development for too long. I just don't see it.
