The Nightingale is a surprise, but I'll take it. Shame that A Hidden Life couldn't get into any of the main categories and that Last Black Man and Luce were subbed everywhere.

love Portrait (obviously) and Marriage Story and Uncut Gems / Lighthouse to a lesser extent but this lineup reminds me of how unexciting 2019 cinema was. And Nightingale is so overrated here, I don't get it. Still A LOT better than the Oscars, which counts for something Thanks for the presentation redhawk, DeepArcher, Viced! And thanks to stephen for those nifty videos. See y'all at the voting booth.

Other than those hilarious Jojo Rabbit nominations in Supporting Actress and Screenplay these were pretty decent!

These nominations were all pretty great. Would've liked to see more love for The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Avengers: Endgame and The Farewell, but I don't have much complaints otherwise.
2019 was an amazing year for cinema in my opinion.

Disappointed that Eddie Murphy missed best actor, but at least N'yongo made it. Also I highly appreciate all the Portrait of A Lady love that was given. Great list of nominees, great presentation @redhawk10 , Viced , and DeepArcher . Now its time to vote for the nominees.

Generally good results. Can't really complain much.
Big thanks to everyone involved for running and presenting another great poll!

Great pres, lads! Lotta good, and a lot I'll just be quiet about (cough, Little Women).
Calling out some of the forgottens that hurt:
Bale, FvF (C’MONNN!!!!) Huppert, Greta Octavia, Luce Octavia, Performer of the Year J’accuse, Foreign Film Parasite, Original Score
Also surprised no Doctor Sleep or Shazam for vfx. And for all the Nightingale love, it missed in the two spots I voted it for: Costume Design and Cinematography!

Some thoughts: - How on Earth did "Into the Unknown" missed in the song category? i guess the campaigning worked for Ready or Not. - I Lost My Body was robbed of a score nom - These Star Wars movies keeps getting undeserving tech nominations. Sigh! - Good line up for Debut feature. - Glad Taylor Russell made into the supporting actress lineup but Margot missing for Bombshell is a disappointment. - Animated movies lineup is perfect - Happy that Endgame made into the choreography category - OUATIH is a drag barring a couple of greatly put together scenes. How did it get a editing nom? - MA you overlooked The King's splendid costume design - Dumbo was robbed in production design - Ew at Irishman's Vfx nom. How is Lion King uncanny and the Irishman not? - That cinematography lineup is perfect. - Same with original screenplay. Pretty good. - Greta was robbed of a directing nom. Booooo! - Franciosi yesss. Glad Lupita made it too. - Replace De Niro with Bale and that's a good lineup - Surprised by the Nightingale's BP nom. I don't mind it though. - Portrait's good but looks like this board is totally in love with it. Overall a mixed bag. Some perfect ones and some outright undeserving.

Did Brad Pitt miss out on a nomination due to category confusion?

Did Brad Pitt miss out on a nomination due to category confusion? I think most people consider him co-lead around here, and hence he was deemed as a lead contender for final voting. He just wasn't able to muscle into a strong-as-hell category.

Did Brad Pitt miss out on a nomination due to category confusion? Oh wow, I hadn't even noticed! I think that alongside a general divisiveness about the performance on this board are to blame for his snub.

Did Brad Pitt miss out on a nomination due to category confusion? I don't think that was the case, he received only one vote in supporting. Leading was just too strong, I think. He finished in 19th for OUATIH ... a few spots behind his Ad Astra performance, actually.

Just now catching up:
The Good
- LUPITA NYONG'O, Aisling Franciosi, and Noemie Merlant for Actress. - Taylor Russell for Supp. Actress. - Robert De Niro for Actor. - The Nightingale for BP (mainly just a pleasant surprise). - Robert Eggers & Celine Sciamma for Director. - Baykali Genambarr for Supp. Actor. - The Best Cinematography line-up (though I do find 1917 to be the weakest Deakins of the last decade). - John Wick 3 for Choreography. - Uncut Gems in Editing & Sound. - The FUCKING "Hide and Seek Song" for Original Song!!!
The Bad - The general lack of Waves everywhere. - Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for everything but Actor, Production Design, and Soundtrack. - Once Upon a Time in Hollywood PARTICULARLY for Film Editing. - Joaquin Phoenix for Actor. - Anthony Hopkins for Supp. Actor (lol, but really why?) - All the make-up category except The Irishman. Like... Joker? For some face paint? Over It: Chapter Two, Captain Marvel, Little Monsters, The Lighthouse, Hellboy, etc.? Granted I very rarely ever agree on others in this category. - Lack of John Wick 3 in Sound or Film Editing. - The Sound categories in general. - Joker for Score (great historic win, but a bland score altogether IMO).
Overall, not a bad bunch, but feels a bit uninspired. Like it's the same ten movies across almost every category. Would have loved a bit more diversity, but can't complain. It was also a pretty lame year in general IMO.
Thanks for compiling this and presenting this guys!
