As much as we don't like
Crash here, I'm sad Mark Isham's incredible score couldn't get recognized here while the Song (also great) did. Also wish the
Sin City score could have been recognized along with James Newton Howard's fantastic
King Kong one as well. I'll take that
Batman Begins one any day though. Also love Santaolalla's work, but always hard to tell how purely original his work is hence why I didn't vote for him. Glad he made it anyway.
Also those Sound, Film Editing, VFX, Choreography, and Makeup categories are only a one nominee difference from my own line-ups which is awesome (just missing
Kung Fu Hustle in Sound/VFX/Choreography - particularly that last one over
King Kong which is difficult to give choreography to mostly VFX work... -,
Cinderella Man in Editing, and
Constantine in Makeup, but fuck yeah to
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang making Editing!).
Fair to Costume, I haven't seen three of the nominees, but still sad
Sin City and
Proposition couldn't make the cut. Same for Production Design (but two nominees instead of three). At least my winner made it for the latter.
That cinematography line-up is sexy as hell, though I haven't seen
New World and wish my winner -
Sin City - could have made the cut.
At least
Sin City made it into Ensemble, though
Good Night and Good Luck was robbed (and
Twelve and Holding, but I know that was a very very long shot). Very shocked
Sin City also missed Adapted in a line-up of 7, but at least
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang made it there which is one of my all-time favorite scripts anyway. And holy shit at
Three Burials getting into Original!! I didn't think it had a chance in hell making these nominees anywhere, but so glad it made it, even if I also wish
40 Year Old Virgin could have gotten in there as well.
Supporting Actress: #Justice for Linda Cardellini. Always going to stan her in
Brokeback Mountain. What she captures in less than five minutes is just absolutely mesmerizing and still baffles me she's not a bigger actress than she is. At least Williams made the cut.
Supporting Actor: HOLY SHIT! You guys are making my day! Rourke! KILMER! Motherfucking BARRY PEPPER! Only wish Clifton Collins Jr and Jeremy Renner (for
Twelve and Holding) could have made the cut, but I'll take what I can get.
Lead Actress: Sadly had to only submit 4 here because I've only seen that many (and one I guess I frauded because I put Linney as my #2), but Yeong-ae was easily my #1 and I'm so glad she made the cut!
Lead Actor: WINSTONE! LEVITT! LEDGER! Such a great line-up, though I wish the
Three Burials love could have extended to Tommy Lee Jones and also wish the comedy bias would have subsided to make room for Robert Downey Jr. and Steve Carell, but again I'll take what I can get.
Director/Picture: HOLY SHIT AGAIN!
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in Picture?! A dream come true. My #1 of the year and one of my all-time favorite comedies. Just a blast from beginning to end. Very glad
Brokeback Mountain, Sin City, and
Cache did so well here too (even if
Sin City deserved a BP nod - curious to know how close it was to making the cut?).
Thanks again
