His new one - "Inside" - March 10th.........couldn't find this posted.......looks like a pretty awesome one man show film performance.......I've said before that Dafoe is a crucial American actor imo because he could be argued as THE best American actor of the entire 80s class while not being a "movie star" - that's very, very rare and even more arguable ....... but that 80s American class is arguable in every way anyway .....Duvall, Keitel, Dafoe, PSH and that lineage of "American Alternative Actors" etc.

What a poster! Schiele, baby. Looking forward to Inside, his first leading role since a quad of 'em in 2019... The Lighthouse and Tommaso terrific and among career best. Too many barely-there parts so far this decade... like eight of them? That's too many in a row, Willy. Bring on the Yorgos~~~~.

.......like I always say - you can argue him as the best actor of the 80s Not the biggest star of the 80s ..........but literally, arguably the best actor...........Every year or 2 lately Dafoe is in one of the best movies of the year........how many BP nominees / winners has he been in now - Platoon, Mississipppi Burning, English Patient, Grand Budapest Hotel, Born on the 4th of July.......many other non-nominated modern classics or films of note ......only Cage could have played his roles and some of those I'm not sure of.......the way his face (and Emma Stone's) is sketched in relief of the striking cinematography of Poor Things (in Black & White) is really something.......a national treasure Just sayin' ........attention must be paid......... 2019 - The Lighthouse 2021 - Nightmare Alley 2023 - Poor Things

He is "the greatest American actor in our lifetime. You cannot compare his career to anyone’s, truthfully” said Pedro Pascal on the ceremony today where the legend has finally received his star on the Walk of Fame. Some of his directors like Walter Hill, Wim Wenders, Guillermo del Toro, Sean Baker and Patricia Arquette were also there.

I've really only seen his post-2000 work, but he's definitely one of the best I've ever seen. I was recently impressed by his turn as the very sensitive Klaus in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. The fact that he can turn around and do the Green Goblin during the same period, or later doing things like The Florida Project and At Eternity's Gate (still haven't seen The Lighthouse) shows that he's one of the most diverse actors around. Just saw Papa Zissou. It was brilliant.
