The precursors are behind us and the only thing left now is to guess the final outcome. So let's do it!
Best Picture: Parasite I absolutely understand that 1917 is the safe prediction and that its precursor combo is incredibly strong (PGA + DGA + GG + BAFTA) but I just have this gut feeling that the Academy may go for the most hyped contender. Parasite is not a little movie that could, it's a hype juggernaut that everybody seems to love and I can easily imagine it being the type of movie that doesn't get low placements on the ballots and prevails because of that. Yes, there's the International category for it which is a hindrance and of course no foreign language film has ever won before but the popularity of this one seems so strong that it may just break that stat. But of course 1917 is right up there as well and for me this prediction is almost a coin-flip situation.
Best Director: Sam Mendes, 1917
Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix, Joker
Best Actress: Renee Zellweger, Judy
Best Supporting Actor: Brad Pitt, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Best Supporting Actress: Laura Dern, Marriage Story
Best Adapted Screenplay: Jojo Rabbit The WGA + BAFTA combo will be hard to top. Plus I think Waititi's advantage over Gerwig here is that her script, no matter how great, will probably be seen by a lot of voters as yet another version of a story that's been told multiple times before, while Waititi's script may just seem fresher and more unique to them. Plus Jojo is clearly a beloved film that's done very well.
Best Original Screenplay: Parasite
Best Cinematography: 1917
Best Film Editing: Ford v Ferrari
Best Original Score: Joker
Best Original Song: “I’m Gonna Love Me Again,” Rocketman Although part of me does think that Erivo may have a chance here...A weird category to predict this year for sure.
Best Production Design: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Best Costume Design: Little Women The consolation prize for Gerwig's film, Phantom Thread style. Which will also be richly deserving.
Best Sound Editing: 1917
Best Sound Mixing: 1917
Best Makeup and Hairstyling: Bombshell
Best Visual Effects: 1917 This still seems like a fairly unusual winner in this category to me but I think it will happen.
Best International Film: Parasite
Best Animated Feature: Klaus A tough one since Toy Story 4 has been doing very well at the guilds and it also has the box office and all that but I guess the Klaus support may translate into an Oscar too.
Best Animated Short: Hair Love
Best Documentary Feature: For Sama
Best Documentary Short Subject: Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (If You're a Girl)
Best Live Action Short: Brotherhood

I have to say I agree with the picks in the above picture with a few exceptions:
1917 will win BP imo and Ford v Ferrari will get the editing award (Parasite is an outsider here).
Visual effects will might to Endgame although I'm not predicting it.
Rocketman is wining the Oscar for best song.
As for the documentaries and the short films, I have no opinion.

Exact same as yours, except I have Parasite taking editing too. Here's the thing: Editing and Sound Mixing have matched up every year since 2013. If FvF wins the editing, its probably taking sound mixing.

If FvF wins the editing, its probably taking sound mixing. I bring this up a lot too because it is interesting to me that these two have aligned more often in recent years than even Sound Mixing and Sound Editing. I do think at the end of the day this trend is arbitrary more than anything, and it just so happens that they're two awards that just tend to go to the same "types" of films (and yeah, all of those films that make-up this trend are all music-based, action, or war films). Ford v. Ferrari is really the only one that I can see taking both (unless we're in for a truly dire situation with Joker), and I actually predicted that earlier in the season, but Ford v. Ferrari has some hot competition in the Editing category (despite still being the frontrunner, I would guess) and I don't see 1917 being overtaken in either Sound category. I do think if this trend continues this year it might be a random thing worth paying attention to...

I think it's far from coincidence.
The reason why I haven't done my final predictions yet is because I am still figuring out the Sound Mixing and Film Editing category.
Sound Editing is obviously going to 1917. Its won the MPSE and the BAFTA, and it's a war film.

Some heavy hitters like Pan, Amelia have lost in the past (maybe voting system was different, idk) so it isn't really THAT unprecedented. I do sense some shocker though.

Best Picture- 1917 Want to win- 1917, or Joker for the LOL's Best Director: Sam Mendes, 1917 Want to win- Mendes Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix, Joker Want to win- Phoenix Best Actress: Renee Zellweger, Judy Want to win- Johansson Best Supporting Actor: Brad Pitt, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Want to win- Pacino Best Supporting Actress: Laura Dern, Marriage Story Want to Win- I guess Dern. Haven't seen a few of these and a lot of them seem meh Best Adapted Screenplay: Jojo Rabbit Want to win- The Irishman Best Original Screenplay: Parasite Want to win- Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Best Cinematography: 1917 Want to win- 1917 Best Film Editing: Ford v Ferrari Want to win- Ford v Ferrari Best Original Score: Joker Want to win- 1917 Best Original Song: “I’m Gonna Love Me Again,” Rocketman Want to win- Elton Best Production Design: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Want to win- 1917 Best Costume Design: Little Women Want to win- Joker Best Sound Editing: Ford vs Ferrari Want to win- Ford v Ferrari Best Sound Mixing: Ford vs Ferrari Want to win- Ford v Ferrari Best Makeup and Hairstyling: Bombshell Want to win- Joker Best Visual Effects: 1917 Want to win- Lion King might have honestly been the best as bad as the movie was Best International Film: Parasite Want to win- Abstain Best Animated Feature: Toy Story IV Want to win- Toy Story IV Best Picture: ParasiteI absolutely understand that 1917 is the safe prediction and that its precursor combo is incredibly strong (PGA + DGA + GG + BAFTA) but I just have this gut feeling that the Academy may go for the most hyped contender. I know I might come off as "picking on" people who pick Parasite sometimes but I don't mind this. Everyone picks the upset sometimes and if you acknowledge that it's fine. It just annoys me when people seem oblivious to the precursors despite the fact that this is supposed to be a site for awards prognostications.
