Okay for Just Mercy (its budget is 20m, so I doubt WB is complaining), but that's really strong for 1917. If it follows other similar dramas, it could open with around 40m, which would make it a significant breakout.

Her attempt to go "mainstream" again, has not gone too well. I think she should just go back to indies for the time being, and then do a comic book franchise eventually, when she needs to eat. Underwater just looked like a dud from the get-go, and the January release did the film no favors.

For a film featuring mostly "no leads", and being based off a British set story, that's damn strong for 1917. Just Mercy also seems to have excellent WOM, and I could see it legging out to over 40m as well. www.the-numbers.com/daily-box-office-chart1 (15) 1917 Universal $13,970,000 +17,496% +7,237% 3,434 $4,068 $16,691,279 17 2 (1) Star Wars: The Rise of Sk… Walt Disney $3,920,000 +81% -64% 4,279 $916 $467,030,690 22 3 N Like a Boss Paramount Pi… $3,900,000 3,078 $1,267 $3,900,000 1 4 (-) Just Mercy Warner Bros. $3,650,000 +35,946% +16,878% 2,375 $1,537 $4,085,988 17 5 (3) Jumanji: The Next Level Sony Pictures $3,300,000 +167% -62% 3,904 $845 $246,424,981 29 6 N Underwater 20th Century… $2,492,000 2,791 $893 $2,492,000 1 - (2) Little Women Sony Pictures $2,185,000 +58% -50% 3,216 $679 $68,566,009 17 - (6) Frozen II Walt Disney $1,229,000 +125% -69% 2,655 $463 $454,852,042 50 - (7) The Grudge Sony Pictures $1,050,000 +99% -80% 2,642 $397 $15,456,715 8 - (8) Spies in Disguise 20th Century… $1,045,000 +184% -71% 2,671 $391 $50,553,429 17

Strong Saturday increase for 1917, hefty drops for the holdovers too. You can tell the holiday season is officially over. Little Women should be able to leg it to 100m still, though. A few Oscar noms will help too. www.the-numbers.com/weekend-box-office-chart1 (17) 1917 Universal $36,500,000 +5,809% 3,434 +3,423 $10,629 $39,221,279 3 2 (1) Star Wars: The Rise o… Walt Disney $15,059,000 -56% 4,279 -127 $3,519 $478,169,690 4 3 (2) Jumanji: The Next Level Sony Pict… $14,000,000 -47% 3,904 -230 $3,586 $257,124,981 5 4 (28) Just Mercy Warner Bros. $10,000,000 +12,952% 2,375 +2,371 $4,211 $10,435,988 3 5 N Like a Boss Paramount… $10,000,000 3,078 $3,249 $10,000,000 1 6 (3) Little Women Sony Pict… $7,650,000 -44% 3,216 -92 $2,379 $74,031,009 3 7 N Underwater 20th Cent… $7,003,000 2,791 $2,509 $7,003,000 1 8 (4) Frozen II Walt Disney $5,761,000 -51% 2,655 -520 $2,170 $459,384,042 8 9 (7) Knives Out Lionsgate $5,725,000 -36% 2,060 -82 $2,779 $139,621,744 7 10 (6) Spies in Disguise 20th Cent… $5,108,000 -51% 2,671 -831 $1,912 $54,616,429 3

Big drop for Star Wars...
Either way, it has almost made 1 bil. worldwide, even though it's difficult to make it solely on the US.
