Who gets nominated in this complete clusterfuck of a category this year? I think it's going to break the record for "most snubs in a category".
Pick 5, and vote away!

I went with the top 5 (Phoenix, Driver, Egerton, Banderas, and DiCaprio), but really other than Phoenix I could see anyone missing out tomorrow.

Phoenix, Driver, Egerton feel near-certain here. DiCaprio very likely. The fifth spot either goes to Banderas or MacKay. I'll opt for the former, but I would not at all be surprised if it's the latter.

Yeah, it depends how much the Brits actually like Marriage Story. It's probably missing Best Film because this year is pretty competitive, and I don't know if Brits, even those in the industry will be able to relate to it, but they could still go for it in other categories. Best Actor is tough though because they have so many Brits they can support (Bale, Egerton, MacKay, Pryce), and BAFTA also used to be friendly to Foreign language performances at one time, and Eddie Murphy got that out of nowhere nomination for Shrek from them. Plus De Niro and DiCaprio will have support because of who they are, and also because their films should be really strong. Sandler might end up surprising too since Uncut Gems might be something that BAFTA really loves in the end. I really can't rule anyone out.

well I thought DiCaprio might've been on the outs but then I look at the list of contenders again annnnnd yeah, I guess he's safe. I thought this race would've been more competitive but Bale/Pryce/De Niro/Sandler/Murphy have all run out of steam.
I think this is our lineup 1. Phoenix 2. Driver 3. Egerton 4. Banderas 5. DiCaprio
(DiCaprio might be higher but placement is irreverent because I'm not convinced anyone else cracks this five)

The rest I can understand, because they've either missed precursors or their movies underperformed or both, but that doesn't seem to be the case for Bale (yet).

He hasn't yet but he's got the weaker film and narrative than the other five in contention, and his performance while enjoyable and charismatic doesn't have the weight of the others and isn't as showy, and they've nominated him a lot before. I'm just seeing cons with Bale, and I expect the BAFTAs to nominate Banderas and DiCaprio over him (or Banderas and De Niro because they love De Niro and Marty), and if he misses on his own home turf I think the race is going to be over for him. He's about as safe as Nyong'o right now, which is not very.

EDIT: looking at the list my brain made the assumption that these were oscar predictions, not bafta. Regardless, my answer is the same.

I thought of him after I made the poll, but nobody is voting for him anyway. There is still the "Other" option in case you want to vote for him.

Wow, those 5 Supporting Actors keep showing up everywhere. It doesn't happen often that the same set gets nominated at every precursor, does it?
Joker leads the nominations with 11, and OUaTiH actually overperformed with that Robbie nomination.

Jonathan Pryce Too bad it seems like Pryce and Banderas are fighting for the same spot (the international vote).

I went with Phoenix, Driver, Egerton, DiCaprio, and Banderas. I'll take 4/5 on this one.
