What films feel like they were directed by someone other than the person who actually directed it?
Basic Instinct comes to mind, as so many components of it feel like textbook De Palma. Verhoven's Hitchockian flourishes feel less stodgy and on-the-nose, though, so the right man got the job IMO.

Munich to me seems like a Francis Coppola film and not just because of the scenes which feature intercutting but in the scope and tone of it.

The Rover is not a John Hillcoat film, despite all evidence pointing to that conclusion.

Not really what you're asking but this thread reminded me of that dude on IMDB who would repeatedly, vehemently insist that The Third Man was directed by Orson Welles.

Bug (2007) wasn't directed by David Cronenberg
Gremlins 1 + 2 wasn't directed by Steven Spielberg.
In Her Shoes (2005) wasn't directed by Nancy Meyers.

Tim Burton and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Always thought that was the deal. After all, it's called Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas...
