Viola Davis should be on this poll. As should Sigourney Weaver (how does Carrie Fisher get on this poll, but Weaver doesnt? ) . And at this point, Regina King.

I feel like Weaver particularly might have performed dstrongly. She's near enough in the same calibre as Streep or Close, except she became more associated with genre films than Oscarbait.

Jane Fonda is missing as well. Pretty huge. You'll definitely need a sequel.

Really love these type of polls.....just some general thoughts:
Streep and Close are actually GOAT American career rivals - like Pacino/De Niro are for the males - everyone else is playing catch-up to their artistry. Close isn't Streep's equal in film but her work ethic is just unparalleled on Film/TV/stage combined - she's like an American, female Olivier or like Pacino in that way.
I'd argue Diane Keaton as someone who I have a preference for in that she was utterly unique and sort of recognizable to me in my real life not "movie" life - you can't find much precedent for her or much like her after......and she did a lot of things she wasn't suited for that she kind of triumphed over, not just in comedy. I really love her and am drawn to her, root for her.
Gena Rowlands is the big outlier here, she may have been held back in film by the man who "made" her - Cassavetes - she's a contradictory thing, it's hard to know what she was denied from doing in her great period or what else she could do without him creating that specific environment for her.
Michelle Williams is the best actress of her generation sitting perfectly between Adèle Haenel and Cate Blanchett.....she straight up should have 7 (more?) Oscar nods and she's not 40. I still don't think people get how special she is but time will resolve all that I guess.

I picked Winona because I love her.
I picked Jodie Foster because she used to be really good.
I picked Kathy Bates because she's (basically) always really good.
I picked Gena Rowlands because she's criminally unappreciated.
and I picked Bette Davis because she's the best.
Much love also to Hepburn, Holly Hunter, Judy Garland, Dianne Wiest, and among the missing, small screen queens Janney and Falco, and big screen icons Teresa Wright and the great Gish. And Julianne Moore who I probably like more than any of them.

Streep is a no-brainer.
Amy Adams is in for consistent greatness. Probably go with Katharine Hepburn as well.
Not sure about the two last spots. Plenty to choose between Bette Davis, Liz Taylor, Jodie Foster, Sissy Spacek, Kathy Bates and maybe some others.

Bette Davis is the queen. Nobody does evil, or sarcastic, or wounded, or pretty much anything as well as Bette.
Of the others, I chose Foster, Hepburn, Ryder and Spacek. None of them are at the GOAT's level, though.
