01. Movie of the year? The Irishman.
02. Performance of the year? See my avatar.
03. Favorite character of the year? Moondog!
04. Movie and a performance that surprised you the most? These are always hard for me, because I really only watch things that I expect to like, so whenever I'm "surprised" it's really only negatively. For film I'll say Knives Out which I was expecting to like but not as much as I did. For performance I'll go with Jonathan Majors in The Last Black Man in San Francisco, whom I hadn't heard of before but is still one of my favorite performances of the year. (Ditto Tom Burke in The Souvenir.)
05. Most disappointing movie of the year? The Dead Don't Die.
06. Snoozefest of the year? Midsommar.
07. Worst performance of the year? Honestly struggling to think of any I outright hated ... I'll say Jesse Eisenberg in The Art of Self-Defense.
08. Most annoying character of the year? Oh, hey, Jesse Eisenberg in The Art of Self-Defense. But to keep it more interesting and pick someone from a movie I actually liked ... the villain in John Wick: Chapter 3.
09. Most delightful/feel-good movie of the year? The Beach Bum.
10. Favorite scene of the year? The awards ceremony sequence in The Irishman.
11. Favorite pairing of the year? Dafoe and Pattinson.
12. Breakthrough performance of the year? Aisling Franciosi, The Nightingale.
13. Most anticipated of the year (that you've yet to watch) Uncut Gems.
14. Favorite love scene of the year? If masturbation counts, then The Lighthouse. If mutual masturbation counts, then Parasite. If neither count ... um, well, there's at least one thing I kinda liked in Midsommar.
15. Sexiest character of the year? Cliff Booth.

1. The Nightingale 2. Aisling Franciosi - The Nightingale 3. Murad Ahmed - Gully Boy 4. Movie: I guess Paradise Hills. Wasn't expecting much, but I liked it a lot. Performance: Leonardo DiCaprio - Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. It's probably DiCaprio's second best performance (behind The Wolf Of Wall Street) 5. Midsommar 6. Avengers: Endgame 7. Jake Gyllenhaal - Velvet Buzzsaw 8. Either Jake Gyllenhaal in Velvet Buzzsaw or Beanie Feldstein in Booksmark. Both equally grating. 9. The Art Of Self-Defence 10. The dance scene at the end of Adults In The Room. Political satire at it's finest. 11. Tessa Thomson and Lily James in Little Woods. 12. Aisling Franciosi - The Nightingale 13. First Love 14. The one in Atlantics.

It's too early but who cares, let's do this!
01. Movie of the year? Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
02. Performance of the year? Leonardo DiCaprio, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
03. Favorite character of the year? You guessed it, Rick Dalton!
04. Movie and a performance that surprised you the most? Movie: Midsommar. After the letdown that was Hereditary it was great to see Aster let go of the genre inhibitions and just make a loose piece of atmospheric absurdity. HM: I didn't necessarily feel surprised while watching it but Frozen II keeps surprising me when I'm thinking about it in retrospect. Performance: Jennifer Lopez in Hustlers who I thought was gonna be another case of internet overhype but who was indeed terrific. HM: Cate Blanchett in Where'd You Go, Bernadette - not that I didn't expect her to be good but I sure didn't know she was gonna be SO good.
05. Most disappointing movie of the year? I enjoyed it when I saw it but the aftertaste wore off quickly with Avengers: Endgame. I can't say that I've been particularly disappointed by movies this year, it's more of a situation of many of them not living up to their insane hype (the hype machine is really getting ridiculous these days): Parasite, Marriage Story, Toy Story 4, The Farewell, Apollo 11 - all good/decent but highly overrated.
06. Snoozefest of the year? It'd be too easy to go with the very worst of the year here (which is After), so I'll mention a couple of more highbrow ones that were a bit sleep-inducing: Monos and Luce.
07. Worst performance of the year? Gotta be Donald Glover in The Lion King - now that's a snoozefest.
08. Most annoying character of the year? The little CG turd that Kumail Nanjiani voices in Men in Black: International. The lead dude from After is not far behind.
09. Most delightful/feel-good movie of the year? I'd single out Yesterday here. HM to Where'd You Go, Bernadette.
10. Favorite scene of the year? The climax of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. As cathartic as anything I've ever seen rounded up by probably the saddest happy ending I can think of. Any scene from it would do tbh.
11. Favorite pairing of the year? De Niro and Pacino in The Irishman.
12. Breakthrough performance of the year? Aisling Franciosi in The Nightingale.
13. Most anticipated of the year (that you've yet to watch) 1917, I guess. The Rise of Skywalker is up there too but thankfully that'll be over and done with in a few days!
14. Favorite love scene of the year? It appears that I haven't really seen that many 2019 movies that have coitus scenes and some that do are FAR from being love scenes so I'll go with a different kind of love - the scene in Where'd You Go, Bernadette where a father and a daughter watch their wife/mother finally break out of her shell and go for her dreams. That's love, folks.
15. Sexiest character of the year? I mean, there's Melanie Laurent in 6 Underground, there's Brad Pitt in OUATIH...but it's gotta be JLo's Ramona in Hustlers.

Parasite and Yeo-jeong Jo 05. Most disappointing movie of the year? OUATIH 06. Snoozefest of the year? Glass 07. Worst performance of the year? Jake Gyllenhaal, Spiderman Far From Home 08. Most annoying character of the year? Chris Evans in Knives Out 09. Most delightful/feel-good movie of the year? Knives Out 10. Favorite scene of the year? Frank Sheeran's appreciation night in the Irishman 11. Favorite pairing of the year? De Niro/Pacino in the Irishman 12. Breakthrough performance of the year? Julia Butters, OUATIH 13. I'll probably update this in a few months, as I've only seen about 80 films, and will likely get to another 40 - 50. So for now...
01. Movie of the year? The Irishman
02. Performance of the year? Joe Pesci, The Irishman
03. Favorite character of the year? Mrs. Park (Parasite)
04. Movie and a performance that surprised you the most? Long Shot in terms of movies, as I usually can't abide romantic comedies and it was genuinely great. A special mention to Shazam too. In terms of performance, while he keeps slipping down my line-up and will inevitably drop off my Top 10, Gerard Butler did shock me with how good he was in The Vanishing.
05. Most disappointing movie of the year? Knives Out, without a second thought.
06. Snoozefest of the year? Ad Astra
07. Worst performance of the year? Samuel L. Jackson in Spiderman whatever. He's just sleep walking through this paycheck shit.
08. Most annoying character of the year? Almost every character in The Laundromat.
09. Most delightful/feel-good movie of the year? Most would probably find this a strange choice, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
10. Favorite scene of the year? Pesci and De Niro having breakfast in the hotel in The Irishman
11. Favorite pairing of the year? Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson, with a special mention to Egerton and Bell.
12. Breakthrough performance of the year? Da'Vine Joy Randolph in Dolemite Is My Name
13. Most anticipated of the year (that you've yet to watch) JoJo Rabbit
14. Favorite love scene of the year? The one near the end of Extra Ordinary.
15. Sexiest character of the year? Not a great year so far for the sexy, so Matthias Schoenaerts in The Laundromat wins, simply by being his usually self and in a great suit.

Definitely wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too early for me, but what the hell.
01. Movie of the year? I HEARD YOU PAINT HOUSES
02. Performance of the year? Hmmm... Pacino, Pesci, Bale... Probably Eddie Murphy if I have to single out one. Lesley Manville in Ordinary Love also awesome.
03. Favorite character of the year? Probably Snipes in Dolemite, though Pugh in Midsommar, Vaughn in Fighting with my Family, Moss in Us, Forky in Toy Story 4, Louis B. Mayer in Judy, Craig's in Knives Out, Bale in FvF, Margot in La Belle Epoque, Mendelsohn's in Captain Marvel, Selena Gomez in The Dead Don't Die and Ferguson in Doctor Sleep...
04. Movie and a performance that surprised you the most? Movie that surprised me the most is probably Ready or Not, performance Doria Tillier in La Belle Epoque.
05. Most disappointing movie of the year? I don't know why I expected Brightburn to be more interesting than it was, but that'd be up there. Frozen 2 for sure, Us and Midsommar, Captain Marvel, The White Crow, John Wick 3, Farmageddon.
06. Snoozefest of the year? I thought most of the 'present day' stuff in Pain and Glory was pretty dull, Harriet managed to make something remarkable pretty ordinary, and Frozen II ended just when I was expecting it to pick up momentum.
07. Worst performance of the year? Chloe Sevigny in The Dead Don't Die is the first that comes to mind. Like most of the movie can't tell if it was meant to be odd and off-kilter, or was just awful.
08. Most annoying character of the year? That guy Arthur from Joker was pretty fucking annoying.
09. Most delightful/feel-good movie of the year? Um, Endgame. I guess.
10. Favorite scene of the year? I love the Norton v. Baldwin office scene in Motherless Brooklyn, the trailer, Julia Butters, and Luke Perry scenes in the Tarantino movie, either of Vince Vaughn's big scenes by the bus or on the phone in Fighting with my Family, the nightmare vision scenes in Spider-Man, Scarlett's big monologue and the paper serving scenes in Marriage Story, the title track sequence in Rocketman, the "On your left" scene in Endgame, but maybe my favourite would be the first one between Auteuil and Tillier in La Belle Epoque.
11. Favorite pairing of the year? It's either Pacino and DeNiro, Auteuil and Tillier, or Dever and Feldstein
12. Breakthrough performance of the year? Doria Tillier in La Belle Epoque
13. Most anticipated of the year (that you've yet to watch) Oh man - Hidden Life, Parasite, The Lighthouse.
14. Favorite love scene of the year? Dolemite is My Name, obviously.
15. Sexiest character of the year? Doria Tillier in La Belle Epoque

Snoozefest of the year? Extremely Wicked and I'm Too Bored Already to Even Finish the Title 07. Worst performance of the year? Favorite scene of the year? The discovery of the basement in Parasite 11. Favorite pairing of the year? Lot of contenders here, but Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe in The Lighthouse 12. Breakthrough performance of the year? Margaret Qualley (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) 13. Most anticipated of the year (that you've yet to watch) 1917 14. Favorite love scene of the year? Rocketman? 15. Sexiest character of the year? Robert Pattinson or Margaret Qualley

01. Movie of the year? The Irishman
02. Performance of the year? Elisabeth Moss in Her Smell.
03. Favorite character of the year? Cliff Booth.
04. Movie and a performance that surprised you the most? Booksmart, because I didn't even know it was a thing, and the when the SXSW line-up was published, I marked it as "oh, I hope I remember to watch this, it looks fun". And then it became one of my favorite movies of the year. Performance-wise, Ana de Armas in Knives Out. It was a truly heartfelt piece of acting from someone I wasn't familiar with.
05. Most disappointing movie of the year? The Goldfinch. I love the book, but the film adaptation was trash.
06. Snoozefest of the year? Where'd You Go, Bernadette?, I was looking at my watch the whole time and it dragged so fucking much.
07. Worst performance of the year? Gary Oldman in The Laundromat.
08. Most annoying character of the year? The leading guy in Yesterday.
09. Most delightful/feel-good movie of the year? Booksmart!
10. Favorite scene of the year? Everything that happened after the May Queen contest in Midsommar, but especially the dancing scene.
11. Favorite pairing of the year? I'm gonna cheat and say Feldstein/Dever in Booksmart for friendship pairing, and Driver/Johansson for romantic pairing.
12. Breakthrough performance of the year? Kelvin Harrison Jr. in Luce.
13. Most anticipated of the year (that you've yet to watch) Little Women
14. Favorite love scene of the year? Hmm... Dever and Diana Silvers in Booksmart, I guess. This was a weak year for love scenes.
15. Sexiest character of the year? Cliff Booth. Period.

Seen enough movies to do this now.
Movie of the year: Parasite Performance of the year: Willem Dafoe, The Lighthouse Character of the year: Thomas Wake, The Lighthouse Surprising movie and performance: I Lost My Body and Renee Zellweger in Judy (I've always liked, but I didn't know she had that in her) Most disappointing movie: Luce, hands down. Snoozefest: The King Worst Performance: Someone from Secret Obsession, probably. Can't think of any performances I actively disliked this year. Annoying character: Every character in Luce, but especially Watts'. Delightful/feel-good: Little Women (honourable mention to Long Shot) Favourite scene: Birthday party, Parasite (it's a film chock-full of amazing scenes, though) Favourite pairing: Pattinson and Dafoe, The Lighthouse Breakthrough performance: Cho Yeo-jeong, Parasite Most anticipated unseen: Knives Out Favourite love scene: Midsommar (not a huge year for romance films, from what I've seen) Sexiest character: Cliff Booth, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

I'm still open to whatever comes next....
01. Movie of the year? Parasite
02. Performance of the year? De Niro, Pacino, Pesci, Johansson, Pugh, DiCaprio and Pitt are up there but for now Huppert in Greta, which I could watch endlessly
03. Favorite character of the year? The woman from Honeyland, even though is not fictional. Rick Dalton, Cliff Booth, Moondog, Yoav (Synonyms) and Forky as well
04. Movie and a performance that surprised you the most? In Fabric because I'm not particualrly fond of the director. Emily Beecham in Little Joe, after social media painted it as a wtf win
05. Most disappointing movie of the year? Pain & Glory, Knives Out
06. Snoozefest of the year? Ad Astra, The Traitor, Zombi Child, Motherless Brooklyn...
07. Worst performance of the year? She's not terrible throughout but Streep by the end in The Laundromant was terrible. Sevigny in The Dead Don't Die is also a good call, but I go with the woman who played the evaluator in Marriage Story, don't know what kind of deadpand comedy she was aiming for, she was awful.
08. Most annoying character of the year? El Bromas
09. Most delightful/feel-good movie of the year? The Beach Bum and Where'd You Go Bernadette which wears its inspiring nature without shame.
10. Favorite scene of the year? The awards ceremony in The Irishman, Cliff driving though LA at night, Sharon at the movies, Nicole' "I got small", the scene that recalls the poster from Portrait..., the ending of Les Miserables as well
11. Favorite pairing of the year? Apart from DiCaprio/Pitt, Dujardin/Haenel in Deerskin was delightful, wish the movie was longer, mother and son in the flashbacks of Pain & Glory
12. Breakthrough performance of the year? Emily Beecham and Tom Burke. The Good Girls, The Nightingale and This is Not Berlin have magnificnent lead performances at the centre too.
13. Most anticipated of the year (that you've yet to watch) Cats, So Long My Son, The Whistlers, The Wild Goose Lake, Ema, Bait, Martin Eden, Uncut Gems... year's not over
14. Favorite love scene of the year? Portrait of a Lady on Fire is the default choice, I also like Midsommar, not sure it counts though.
15. Sexiest character of the year? I found Bernadette weirdly sexy, but let's stick with basics here: Ramona

01. Movie of the year? - Ford Vs Ferrari
02. Performance of the year? - Al Pacino, The Irishman. No sorry, Joe Pesci. Fuck it, Idk.
03. Favorite character of the year? - Rudy Ray Moore, Dolemite Is My Name
04. Movie and a performance that surprised you the most? - I love Priyanka Chopra even though she can be terrible in some movies. But I didn't expect such a poignant performance from her in The Sky is Pink. For such a stale year (from what I've seen), she's definitely my favorite lead female performance. Lily Collins in Extremely Wicked was surprisingly great too.
05. Most disappointing movie of the year? - Judy
06. Snoozefest of the year? - Judy; Pain and Glory
07. Worst performance of the year? - Tiger Shroff, War. I also couldn't stand Cardi B in Hustlers. But then again, I can't stand her usually.
08. Most annoying character of the year? - Hitler, Jojo Rabbit
09. Most delightful/feel-good movie of the year? - UNICORN STORE. I really wish Brie had gotten as much recognition as a director as Olivia Wilde is getting. Booksmart was sweet but generic whereas I found her feat in Unicorn Store to be bold. The plot sounds and is stupid but Brie makes it so humane and lovely all around even if a bit too saccharine. Anyway, I shouldn't compare these two. But yeah, Unicorn Store was lovely and so relatable with a very cute performance by the lead. <3
10. Favorite scene of the year? - H.A.C.K.S.A.W, Extremely Wicked. Fucking scared the shit out of me.
11. Favorite pairing of the year? - Captain Marvel and Nick Fury
12. Breakthrough performance of the year? - Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Dolemite Is My Name
13. Most anticipated of the year (that you've yet to watch) - Bala, Uncut Gems, Two Popes, Little Women, The Farewell
14. Favorite love scene of the year? - Ken and Mollie Miles dancing in the warehouse(?) while the plane flies off. Such a beautiful shot.
15. Sexiest character of the year? - Watson Byrant, Richard Jewell

it's too early for me. i'll come back next year! This. As of now I'd expect most answers to change within the next few months. Maybe except that #14 would probably be the couch scene in Parasite.
And of course #13: "J'Accuse". This was always my most anticipated and this hasn't changed.
