These were all great, I'd just add two more: The Two Killings Of Sam Cooke which draws eerie and profound parallels to the civil rights movement and Leaving Neverland which sort of inverts that celebrity profile for how it can be used in other, sinister ways - it makes my top 10 this year - the most damning indictment of celebrity culture and delusion since...........ever?

Look again for Cooke on my list Haven't seen Neverland yet but it's amazing 2019 has more great docs to offer - what a year for 'em.

I don't want to make a full list until after I finish the 2019 docs on my slate. I've already seen several and so far I have to say it's been sort of a wash (apart from the wonderful and stirring Tracy Edwards biodoc Maiden).
I will say that I seriously doubt that anything I've yet to see will unseat Amy, which is both a hauntingly intimate profile piece and a devastating depiction of the toxic relationship between artists and their fans orchestrated by a music industry that commercializes the individual.
Shirkers is also gonna be up there.
