Everything is pointing in the IN direction! Awkwafina out, Lupita IN is the way I see it right now. And it makes quite a lot of sense imo!

Tempted to say in but we all remember what happened to Collette/Hawke just last year. These regional critics' groups really don't mean that much in the scope of things. They're not the ones voting in AMPAS and the Guilds and the British Academy and the HFPA.

ESPECIALLY if she misses at SAG. If I had to predict this early on, I'm betting on a Awkwafina/ScarJo/Lupita/Ronan/Zellweger line-up.

Oh I'm definitely not betting against Theron who's campaigning like crazy, getting all sorts of tribute awards, telling stories about losing her voice for three weeks while perfecting her Kelly and about the difficulties of making the film as its producer. Plus all the transformative makeup! I think Theron is totally in. I'm betting on Theron/Johansson/Ronan/Zellweger/Nyong'o

Yeah, while I like Ronan and Theron, I do think they could use another nomination less than Awkwafina could use a first nomination, but I think she's in danger since her path was critics plus the presumed Comedy/Musical Globe win. Asian actors especially actresses have a difficult time being recognized by AMPAS already, and with Knives Out having momentum right now and Uncut Gems doing so well, I think The Farewell could be vulnerable in every category that it could be nominated in. Also as much as some think that Awkwafina has the Globe locked, I'm not really sure because with Knives Out surging at the right time, I think de Armas might fit the mold better of the kind of young starlet that the Globes like to award before other groups do like Zellweger and Jolie winning Globes before they were nominated by the Oscars a few years later, and Blunt winning a Globe on the tv side the year that it looked like she might be nominated for The Devil Wears Prada. Awkwafina does have a higher profile right now which the Globes might default too, and I think an Awkwafina win might give them some good publicity because she'd be the first Asian winner in that category, in fact I think first Asian actress period in either leading film category which is pretty sad, but sometimes the Globes don't care like when they gave Bohemian Rhapsody the win for Best Drama last year over BlacKkKlansman and Black Panther. They're just going to go with what they like for the most part. Even if Awkwafina does win the Globe, this could just be one of those strange years where all of the Oscar nominees just come from the Drama side. It doesn't happen often, but every once in awhile it will.

You better be there next year! lol, sorry I can definitely ramble a lot if I get on the right subject, but I don't think I'd be very good in the fantasy league. I'm such a procrastinator that I know I'd start off excited about it, and then give up before awards season was over.

The St. Louis film critics left her out today for Erivo and even though they are nothing important or anything, it seemed like "oh yeah, she's not a lock I guess when she wasn't really on my radar 6 days ago"

I think she's in. Film was a box-office hit and she's doing well with these critics groups so far. If she has a good week with the Golden Globes and SAG nominations I'd say you can pencil her in for a nomination. Being a previous Oscar winner helps her as well.
