Really late, but they probably waited because of NYFCC finishing so close.

Kinda shocked that Endgame missed, they always have at least one blockbuster pick. I guess Joker checks that box this year?

I would replace Knives Out with Ford v. Ferrari or Little Women. Knives Out has a lot of momentum now for Original Screenplay now though. This is bad news for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and The Two Popes. They should have made at least one of these lists imo.

Ferrari still feels like Rush 2.0: something we assume is gonna be a huge threat, and then misses above-the-line. Is anyone even talking about it anymore, despite the money it made? I said possibly for Knives Out because it feels like a big SAG Ensemble threat and I can see it getting Globe love as well. It's the most vulnerable, easily, but I can see it getting that passion vote.

It feels like A Beautiful Day in The Neighborhood, and The Two Popes had little chance of getting best picture to begin with, but this definitely doesn't help. I'd be surprised if either was nominated for anything other then a few acting awards, and I'm not convinced of a Hanks nom to begin with, with good reason.

Knives out is a actually do well. It's showing muscle. Comedy is a wasteland this year, so I expect the film, Craig and Ana de Armas to net Globe nods. It's a sprawling ensemble of known actors, so SAG will gravitate towards it. I can even see it playing well with BAFTA. Don't bet against it just yet, is what I'm saying.

These two should drop out of our monthly poll next month. Pryce and hanks are not looking good at the moment.

I thought for sure that Ford v Ferrari would make PGA after it did so well opening weekend, so maybe just below the line nominations for it. This and The Two Popes possibly underperforming makes it much easier to predict that category now barring the possibility that PWH or MacKay become a thing. I would replace Knives Out with Ford v. In most years I would predict Hopkins and Pryce, but I feel that they could be vulnerable. Still not sure Netflix can get 3 actors and 3 supporting actors nominated assuming Driver, De Niro, Pacino, and Pesci are nominated. They'll likely get BAFTA nominations, but I think they might miss SAG. The Globes I'm not sure on. I thought they would before this and before Uncut Gems was moved to Drama, but maybe Pryce gets bumped out there for Sandler. Hopkins I don't know because they're giving Hanks the Cecil B. DeMille Award which frees up a spot.

Pryce could get hurt from a very competitive acting category, that and there doesn't seem to be as much passion associated with his film, as is there with the other best actor nominee potential. Hopkins could get in and he probably has the better chance, but I'm a bit skeptical. I feel if he does get a nomination, it would be in place of Hanks.

Pupdurcs will throw a party if Hanks gets snubbed again lol. Poop Scrud is more against De Niro and Pacino getting nominated this year, which is why he's suddenly a Murphy and Pesci fan and isn't really saying much against Hanks.

Bingo ^.........it's been painful already......... What's weird about Hanks this year is he gave his best performance out of all the ones he's been passed over for except Captain Phillips - people I guess don't really see how layered this performance is maybe (?) - or take it for granted, or they think it's just Hanks doing an impression, being a "nice" guy again.......he's not, he's totally nodworthy this particular year - lots of skill in how he evoked this role.

Hanks needs to go against type. Period. I think that's what he's thinking with the big Col. Parker role upcoming.......he's a strange case because like I always say when you hit your 60s usually your legacy is sealed and his is with 2 wins and to many people he's an all-time great etc.........but sometimes guys catch lightning in a bottle in their 60s (like Dafoe the last 3 years) so you sort of want it to happen for Hanks too. But really that's all that's been missing for him are Oscar nods - the films have been hits, his work has been good, he's still big-time......but yeah I'd be up for a change of pace for him - should have tried it sooner.
