Or maybe they just went,
Arbitrator: Okay, so now Best Picture. What do we got?
Everybody in unison: THE IRISHMAN!!!!!!
Arbitrator: Okay, okay, I got it, you don't have to yell... Jeez...

Hahaha, that didn't take long to deliberate at all. I wonder if they just did picture and Director voting at the same time I could see that. I feel like there was a lot of strategy going on this year with how almost every well reviewed film got something. So I could see something like The Irishman supporters being okay voting for say Dern for support in Best Picture. Or the Pain and Glory supporters agreeing to vote a certain way in exchange for support for Banderas in Actor. Agreements like that so everything would get some kind of love.

Apparently: "Looks like (according to Alissia Wilkinson's twitter) they voted on Picture first, but didn't announced till the end, then circled around to everything else. In case people were wondering how they would deal with the Parasite/foreign language situation."

Here at the New York film critics awards, we like to recognize New Yorkers.
Noah Baumbach: Am I a joke to you?

Critics are the one who massively overrated this movie in the first place. Why wouldn't they be giving it their prizes? This is kind of a strange flex, but ok. What will actually be interesting will be what happens when the industry starts voting. It'll get nominated everywhere, but wins may be less certain than with critics groups.

Happy for Randy Newman's award, who I always felt was underappreciated as a composer. His score for Marriage Story is sparse but really effective. Reminds me a lot of his work on Parenthood.

Yes but you seem to forget that it's an excellent film so it's kind of a conundrum that you're in.

So no conundrum Critics festooned Boyhood with a damn near sweep of their Best Picture awards, and I couldn't stand that film, and thought it was one of the most overrated of the decade. It's called "opinions" on subjective matters. It is what it is
(I'll be happy for Pesci though if he can ride this wave to a 2nd Oscar)

(I'll be happy for Pesci though if he can ride this wave to a 2nd Oscar) Fun fact: if Joe Pesci wins, he will be the fifth actor to win multiple Oscars under the same director, joining Walter Brennan (William Wyler), Jack Nicholson (James L. Brooks), Dianne Wiest (Woody Allen) and Christoph Waltz (Quentin Tarantino).

Why no award for Joaquin so far, this is crazy! Joker and Joaquin have way too many detractors for major critics awards.

I can’t tell if Uncut Gems will be this year’s Nightcrawler or this year’s Whiplash. Probably the former.

(I'll be happy for Pesci though if he can ride this wave to a 2nd Oscar) Yeah some people have the opinion that Transformers 2 is better than The Godfather. I don't care about opinions. Sometimes there is just objective truth.

Why no award for Joaquin so far, this is crazy! Critics seem spreading love this year, after Driver in Gotham, Sandler in NBR and now Banderas in NY, what's next? The film is too controversial and liberal types can't go against their own clergy and holy orders.
